Monday March 26, 2012 - Upper, Horizontal Emphasis, Vertical Maintenance

Bench Press
Bar x 5
145lbs x 5
155lbs x 9 + 5 + 3 (DC style)
185lbs x 3

Dumbell Rows
25lbs x 3 x 10

Lat Pulldowns
90lbs x 3 x 10 (different grips)

Close grip bench press
95lbs x 3 x 10

Notes: I have weak triceps. My arms were shaking with the 95lbs and I realized that my triceps are very weak. I remember last year I kept failing to get better on bench press because my triceps couldn't lockout the weight, and today the close grip bench presses proved me right. We did some high rep DC style bench pressing just for the fun of it. Next week we're increasing to 165, 175, 185 all ramping sets of 5. My strength is coming back fairly easily. No incline presses today due to the enormous chest pump.

Tuesday March 27, 2012 - Lower Body

Squat

95lbs x 3 x 5 --- I know this is incredibly weak, but when I was repping with the bar me and my workout partner both slipped a hamstring. Next week we are going to get back to heavy squatting.

Hang Clean

95lbs x 5 --- something is telling me my form is wrong. I might make a video and let you guys critique.

Barbell Curls

Now I see why everyone says Olympic lifts are hard to teach. I just don't feel like I'm doing this explosively enough.

My buddy has a problem to whereas he's trying to pull the weight from his knees using the muscles in his arms and shoulders. I'm no coach at them, but I told him I believe the momentum from the jump is supposed to cause the bar to go upward completely vertical. Am I correct?

Thanks bud. The hamstrings are even worse today for some reason. I went freakishly low in the depth though and focused on near perfect form. I like the feeling of sore hamstrings in a way though....it lets me know my weakest part of the body had to do a little work!
