Hubby's good, he's keeping up his exercise when he can, plus it helps that he wants to get back to the regular routine that he had before; it's his incentive.

Chili and chocolate is surprisingly good; we tried some Green & Black's chili chocolate, as well as a whole host of other flavours.

Middle-finger DL
1 x 12kg
1 x 16kg
1 x 20kg
1 x 24kg
1 x 28kg
1 x 31kg PB
1 x 33kg PB


Previous best was 29kg, so I wasn't sure whether to repeat the previous best first or just go for a higher load after the 28kg lift, I went with the latter and added 2kg to each attempt; 33kg seemed the stopping point this time around, so I'm now lifting over 50% of my bodyweight in the 1-finger DL

Very pleased with how the session went.

Update: no discomfort, aches, or pain in the finger which means I must have got the correct amount of warm-ups and evenly spaced progressions for the max attempt. Bearing in mind that the finger takes a lot of strain, that's not a bad outcome.

Last time I did the 1-finger DL, the date for which I have no clue of (need to get a sheet written out for these), I did too many warm-ups I reckon because the finger ached for a few days afterwards.

I was a bit surprised, considering I can't remember the last time that I did them; then again, I also went in to the session with the sole purpose of smashing the last PB, maybe that helped a bit.

I had to tie a 3kg weight to the KB handle, and then a 5kg weight; next time, I guess I'll have to tie 2 x 3kg to the handle, one on either side. I use a strip of old pillow case material, folded over 8 times to get around a 1/2 inch wide strip that I then use to secure the dumbbells with; it works, probably better than rope because it has a bit of width to it, so slippage is negligible if there is any once the dumbbell has been tied on.

It's really weird, there has to be something in it; I wonder if it's because we're not obliterating the system or getting it too used to failure? Either way, I'm happy about it.

Oh, I almost forgot...


Whilst we were waiting for the film, I sat munching on a pop tart outside the cinema doors; this younger female, clearly a cardio bunny (and actually sweating), comes strolling by from the fitness suite, nose in the air...it was so plain that she figured she was superior having been on the treadmill whilst all I was doing was relaxing and snacking; you really had to be there, it was comical.

Others passed us with a smile and clearly weren't hoity-toity
