2 - 12 - 11 / Sunday Cleaning

Power Cleans
- 22x205... Total reps in singles, Doubles, Triples
- 6x1x220
- 5x1x230
- 3x1x240

1 Hour and 45 minutes of power cleans. I'm exhausted.

Extremely bad itch to lift and I really needed to work on my power clean technique. Trying to scrap the technique I've been using as it relies to much on pulling the bar up and not so much getting under the bar. This makes my pressing difficult when my cleans aren't going well.

Spent a whole lot of time working with different positions and cues, getting my feet off the floor, etc. Also put in about 2 dozen reps worth of cleans between 135 and 185lbs. Work listed above is in no particular order as I worked up and down a handful of times.

No way in heck I would have been able to clean the above work with my previous technique.

All I could think to say is...I bet.

Learning some good stuff from watching you clean. That hip thrust/bounce is really interesting to a novice like myself. Wish you were a bit closer so you could teach me a few of these things.

Brutal numbers. Numbers are huge and form is looking great.

Great numbers pull, trying to learn how to get more under the bar myself.

Appreciate it guys. Traps were beyond sore. I'm still very much a novice with them myself and self-coaching isn't much help, but it is what it is. Tonight, among other things, I'd really like to get my hips lower and get the weight over my heels. Will see how it goes... Also been doing a lot of stretching and mobility work on the shoulders and lats. Will be interested to see how this all plays out for my pressing.

Someone loved me today...

2 - 14 - 12

Clean & Push Press
-1x210
-1x225
-1x240
-1x245 PR!
-2x0x250 Power Clean pr x2
-2x3x220 pr
-3x2x230 pr

Squat
-1x415
-1x430
-1x445 PR
-2x3x395 pr
-1x2x415 pr
-1x1x415

Row
-5x5x240

WOW! Sleep was bad, didn't eat much, tired as heck from work... "How you feel is a lie!" Cleans felt nothing but awesome. Got hips very low set up a bit closer to the bar which made a huge difference in the power clean. 250's were pretty easy. Can't say how good it looked as I didn't have the camera on me. Push presses were incredible too. Took some larger jumps in weight and 245 just flowed. First 250 attempt went no where. Second attempt got stuck about 3" from lockout, held position for about 2 seconds before releasing. Down sets are big default PRs. Tough but smooth.

Squats. Felt fast and explosive, lower back felt very strong. Planned on making a jump from 415 to 440 but had a huge mental fart and left 10lbs off. Nevertheless, PR'd at 445. It was a slow grind, but holding the correct positions was incredibly easy. 395s were fast but brutal. Another mental fart with the 415's... was supposed to be 410. Still got one double, but failed the next attempt with only 1 rep. Called it there. Not sure how much a difference 5lbs would have made anyway. Slightly disappointed for not getting the last two double, but it pales in comparison to the weights moved. 55 lbs away from a 300lb pc/pp and a 500lb squat

How you feel is a lie...

My wife was just asking me that the other day. I said it doesn't matter.

Congrats on that PR.
