Last 2 days
Did some strongman type stuff the last 2 days. Nothing too crazy, but hoping when I get back from vacation I will get more consistent. Did some experimenting this weekend. But we have also been dealing with a lot of rain.

Sunday

Yoke
all about 40 feet
225x1
315x1
405x 2 sets
Really testing this out, the set up is 2 loading pins suspended from the bar. Feels like a yoke just not as stable. Really started to get the hang of it on my second set of 405 and then the rain chased us in. Really fun though!

Fat Grip Clean and Press
135x3
155x3
185x1
205x1

This was a quick workout, but solid. Love the yoke set up.

Sunday

Log Clean and Press
105x5
145x3
165x2
195x1
215x1
230x1 PR
195x5
Need more practice with log, need to get my timing down on the push press.

Duck Walk
*this is carrying one loading pin between your legs. Very awkward and awesome.
all for 40 feet
90 x 1
180x1
225x1
270x1
This is just a really awkward movement, puts weird stress on your upper back muscles and gets a good burn going in the legs.

Had a really good time with strongman, need to get more consistent. My strongman buddy Boucher is starting a new job this week where he should be working more a more regular schedule hopefully we can do a lot more strongman through the fall. I would like to do it more seriously, while keeping my gym lifts going.

Thanks steve, I could have gone a little heavier on the cleans. But we were doing them inside and the way down with the fat grip cleans is the hard part.

Probably gonna do some arm training in a little bit. It is raining outside and I have nothing else to do.

Awesome work JW!

You gave me an idea too. I think I'm going to try using my squat stands with a barbell in the locks at the top and load up the bottom with plates as a yoke. Should be interesting. Thanks!

That Duck Walk sounds brutal!

Back From North Carolina
Got back yesterday early afternoon, so I was able to get in a strongman workout last night. It was a lot of fun, but I have some weird soreness right now. Looking forward to getting back on my training schedule

Yoke
all for about 50 feet I guess
135x1
225x1
315x1
405x1
455x1
495 x about 20 feet, starting seeing stars

Circus DB-2 hand clean and press
60x3 each arm
90x3 each arm
110s x 1 each arm
140x x fail
Went too heavy and I was just done.

I will get back to my usual training today, squatting this afternoon. Can not wait!!

Monday Squats
Hit my numbers today, weights felt heavy and I was a little out of my groove, but I got it done.

Squats
145x2x5
240x5
280x4
335x3
365x2
385x1
405x1
425x1
Used wraps on the last 2 sets. Felt decent, had a little more in me.

Pause Squats
315x2x5
These were brutal today, 5 reps on pause squats is tough

Yoke Bar Box Squats
180x10
230x10
Bad idea, just idea just felt awful

Shrugs
225x10
405x10
495x10
585x10
675x 10, 8
These felt alright, my lower back had some serious pumps in it.

I think I need to take it easier on assistance. Right now I am working with squat weights that are close to my max. I am going to keep the shrugs, but probably not the extra squatting. I will just do either BW GHR or back extensions. Something easy just to get a little extra volume in.

Pretty good session for having a week off and doing heavy yoke yesterday. I do not think strongman affects my squats very much. We will see.

Tuesday Bench Press
Tough to get set up today, my legs are really sore. Definitely need to cut the volume a little bit. Going to treat squats and pause squats as 2 different exercises. Any way bench went alright

Bench Press
135x2x5
175x5
205x4
235x3
265x2
280x1
295x1
310x1
245x13
I think this tied my PR, which is solid. I was not feeling that great. did not eat a lot today

Klokov Press
95x5
115x5
135x5, 4
95x10
Shoulders were very sore today, not sure why.

Seated Cable Row
180x10
230x3x10

Tricep Pushdown Wider Grip
70x15
95x12
115x3x10
Used the wide fat bar on the lat pulldown machine. These really get a good burn going.

Definitely improving, looked back a couple weeks ago and I hit 240 for 13, so I added 5 more pounds and hit the same amount of reps. Small improvement, but my bench is always difficult to get moving.

Really need to get my nutrition right. I just do not have the motivation to do it right now. Probably in another month or so I will get it right. I think the key is me getting up and making eggs in the morning.

Does anyone make a big batch of eggs and then microwave them? Might look into some sort of egg caserole too or something.

Have you thought about building up to a single and then doing some rep work after that? Don't want to nudge you off your program, but thought I would ask.

It tastes damn good. I make it in a 9x13 baking pan and get about 9 pieces of pizza.
