I'd say self-flagellation is less punishing than a 20 rep squat at that weight after deadlifts, you masochist you

3/5/1 Cycle 1 Wk 3

Squat
[Goal] Actual
[130x5] 130x5
[150x3] 150x3
[165x1+] 170x1
The 170 flew up so stupidly decided to chase higher numbers than get the reps in,
Did 180x1 and then failed 190

Assistance
1.Hanging Straight Leg Raise : 5 sets of 15 (20,20,15,15,10)
2.Squats: 5 sets of 10 @100kg

Notes
Working out in evenings this week and in a different gym so was a bit all over the place...
Annoyed at my stupidity to chase a 1RM without a proper build up so punished myself with 5 sets of 10 which was tough but enjoyable...
Bench tomorrow night and will not be packing the ego into the bag this time!

60 squats done in the session is still good going!

I don't think that gym has seen anyone squat +140kg in a long time either!

That will bring some serious pain! Eat big.

Don't get down about the 190. Sometimes only a pound separates a PR from failure. At least you tried.

Great session. Sometimes you just have to go with the gut and push it outside of the limits of the program.

No doubt that 418 lbs would have been yours had a planned ramp up been done. However, I am a big fan of instinctive training. I have done what you did lots of times, and many times it has worked out. I love it and will do it again for sure. I think you are for sure at the point now in your lifting that trying these things is not stupid. Just my 2 cents.
