Thanks BtB, really happy with them right now.

Cheers markievicz, ye I reckon I could have pushed it a little further with deads. The squats are still horrible for me and I always try and pause the last one to the point where I know it'll be really tough.

20/07/12 - Bench II

Reactive Slingshot Bench
132.5kg x 2 @9 PB
135kg x 2 @9.5 PB & previous 1RM
137.5kg x 2 @10 PB +2.5kg on 1RM
132.5kg x 2 @9

2brd Bench
117.5kg x 2 @9
120kg x 2 @9
122.5kg x 2 @9.5 PB by default really
122.5kg x 2 @9.5

Close Grip 3brd
80kg x 8
85kg x 8
90kg x 8 x 2

Inverted Rows
BW x 10 x 4

Not too bad, hit the higher RPE's earlier than I wanted but I'll take it for now, I had hopes of a 3pps double but it wasn't to be today. Heaviest reps I've done with he slingshot were at 120kg so felt good to add 17.5kg to that. Felt like a ton to unrack and to control in general, forearms and biceps were on fire after the heaviest set. Form was a little sloppy but this day has really helped hold my form together with my max raw weights.

I'm still undecided on the 2 board press, it definitely helps overload and it really challenges me staying tight so it should carry over at least a little.

Nice, big jump. Hopefully over time this Slingshot work will keep making those big sets feel lighter and lighter.

I think just holding the extra weight will benefit you like it does on the squat. Fine work again.

Cheers everyone, pretty chuffed with that PB looking back and the slingshot has made a huge difference to my bench so far, love that thing.

21/07/12 - Extra/GPP

Bear Complex
5 reps with: 20kg, 30kg, 35kg, 40kg, 45kg

I intended to do more with the session but this left me in a pile on the floor steaming and it also aggravated my right arm/shoulder so stopped with the weights.

Haven't used the foam roller lately apart from with my thoracic and lats mainly because my fat ass has squashed the life out of it so I picked up some PVC pipe this week and filled it with expanding foam. It's not a pleasant experience by any means but it really broke some crap down in my glutes and hips which are 2 problem areas and left me feeling nice and loose.

Lots of rolling with PVC and hard ball around my shoulders, lot of tough tissue in my right bicep and tricep which was unpleasant to roll out but good release in my shoulder. Going to carry on rolling my arms with the ball whilst I'm sat around tonight and let it recover some tomorrow.

Arm/shoulder aside, feeling good and ready to get back to it on Monday. Plan is to have at least one solid PB in every session this week .

I have been using PVC for over a year now for rolling. Covered mine in duct tape so I don't slide off it and it still looks like new.

One PB a week would be awesome. That Bear complex is just brutal and I am very impressed that you can do 45kg for 5 reps.
