Disappointing day, intended to throw the slingshot on at 125 but realised I'd forgotten it. Went for it raw anyway but could only shift it a few inches off chest, disappointing. Eat more and rest up, really need to concentrate on driving the legs and staying tight up on traps. Might alter the run up for the next session to save myself and go 105, 115, 125.

I'll see, trying not to spend too much time thinking about the gym as exams start a week tomorrow so I'll take whatever I can.
the numbers are good without any doubt J ... but i think you are doing too many sets of warm up. In my personal opinion, you should try to increase wt. in initial sets. Like if you can bench 110kg w/o any problem, you should try to start it with 112.5 / 115 in next schedule ... Give it a try ... I did it for myself and results were satisfactory ... keep lifting ...

Get big numbers in the exams, then in the weight room. Bench kicks us all in the nuts often enough but you'll come through I'm sure.

Thanks for stopping by ravi, that's the thinking behind me trimming down the build up sets so 115 would be the first working single.

Big numbers in the exams would be nice. It wasn't such a bad session really, I should maybe hold back from writing my log so soon after the gym ha, less angry thoughts.

Good idea of what I'll be doing over the next few heavy bench sessions. Tomorrow morning will be light bench, deadlifts and maybe paused squats and then heavy squat Sunday.

10/05/12 - Dead, Squat & Bench

Deadlift
60kg x 5, 100kg x 3, 120kg x 2

140kg x 2
160kg x 1
180kg x 3 +10kg PB EASY!

Paused Squat (Playing with bar position during warm-ups)
60kg x 5 low, 5 high (stuck with high), 80kg x 5, 100kg x 5

110kg x 5

Light Paused Bench
40kg x 5
60kg x 5
80kg x 1

Sidebends
25kg x 20 x 2

Banded Abs
Blue x 40 x 2

One of those days that defies logic; very little broken sweaty sleep + warm up spent on the toilet + general deathlike symptoms = heavy ass weight moved.

Was sat on my ass out of breath after the 60kg dead warm ups but picked myself up and smashed 4pps triple. This was easy, push the triple over 200kg and I'm making progress on my year end goal.

Wanted to play with a squat variation so I can squat heavy Sunday, wanted to get an idea of a baseline with paused squats.

New bench set-up, upper back first with feet on bench and then force arch dropping feet. Feels a lot tighter, a lot more arch from thoracic which takes the strain off of the lower back and puts me in a better position to drive the legs and reduce ROM.

Been on top of mob stuff, shoulders are feeling pretty good, thoracic is getting more mobile and hips are nice and loose. Could go on for hours, one of those days where everything clicks.

Awesome JT! Weird how some great lifts come a on bad day, and vice versa.

Still, hard work always wins. Good luck on the exams! Man, I don't miss those days.
