great idea for a thread as ill be also needing this type of info.

for my vote i say eat like an animal and go for the 100kg class...
last thing you need on the day are Ghosts in your head nagging on about the recent calorie deficit
Thanks markievicz, will start the thread sometime this week, would like to get everything sorted before exams start. That's my thinking, it's my first meet and I don't want to have to think about anything, just walk in and lift.

The only decision I need to make is whether to lose a few pounds and cut a little water before down to 90kg or eat like an animal and go for the 100kg! I will no doubt start a thread for any advice for the day as I really have no idea what will be going on.
That's awesome news JT.

My opinion....first meet is all about experience. Don't do anything unique or special from now until the meet. Go in strong. If anything, eat well from now until D Day.

Thanks BtB. That seems to be the general consensus and suits me just fine

11/01/12 - Bench 3x3 + Single

Bench (Mini band around wrists for warm-ups)
40kg x 5
50kg x 5
60kg x 3

70kg x 3
80kg x 3
90kg x 3

100kg x 1

Neutral Grip Pull-Ups (Bench Superset)
5,5,5,5,5

Dumbbell Shoulder Press
16kg's x 10
18kg's x 10,10,10,10

Dumbbell Rows
30kg x 10,10,10,10,10

Tri Pushdown/Facepulls
15? x 20/20, 20/20, 20/20

In a word, today was sh*t. Bench felt hard and 100kg was heavy so called it, could've pressed more but didn't see the point in straining on a bad day. I think my shoulders are quite weak and unbalanced and will be working to improve this and my posture, the retraction stuff I have been doing is already helping this. Back work has been really good lately and will hopefully gain some size this year. Pushdowns and facepulls to finish were really good, like to do the facepulls with a retraction preceding, dieselcrew inspired.

I know why today was bad and I really haven't had many bad session lately so won't be getting hung up, time to feast.

Onwards and upwards. Still nice to be pressing 100kgs on a bad day.

Thanks LtL. Certainly is, I was scared of 100kg for a while so it's good to have the confidence to press it even today.

Good to hear JT. There are 2 things I can never have enough of...back strength and overhead pressing strength.

they cant all be award winning days , im with LtL , 100 on a bad day aint all that bad.

work on shoulder strenght to help out the press movement - any reason why you favour DB's over M Press?

edit: congrats , u won my 400th post!

Shall agree with you on this, definitely putting more focus on overhead work.

Thanks markievicz. DB's today as it's easiest on the shoulder and closer to BHNP than military which is what I intend to incorporate. Just avoiding straining the shoulder again.

It's an honour .

Brilliant, accidentally deleted it all. Attempt 2

13/01/12 - Squat 3x3 + Singles

Squats
60kg x 5
70kg x 5
85kg x 3

100kg x 3
112.5kg x 3
127.5kg x 3

140kg x 1
150kg x 1

Goodmornings
55kg x 8,8,8,8,8

Hanging Leg Raises
12,12,12,12,10

Decided to do some shoulder work back at the flat I was warm.

Band Pull Aparts/External Rotation
20/12, 16/12, 16/12

Squats felt light enough but felt a funny twinge in my left knee on the 150kg, hopefully nothing but might ice and heat today just in case. Goodmornings felt good, preferring the slightly lower rep range for them with slightly more weight.

Nothing more to say today. Food and revision is the order of the day!
