Thanks 5kg.

24/05/13 - Squat, Dead & Bench

Oly Squat
120kg x 8 x 3

Conv. w/Belt
190kg x 1
210kg x 1
190kg x 1

2ct. Pause Bench
SuperD shoulder stabilisation
112.5kg x 1
120kg x 1
100kg x 3 x 5
100kg x 5 Long pause finish

Squats were ok, lungs are improving.

Pulls were terrible, knew on the 190 things weren't going my way. Sweatiest day in a while, no straps and no skin on thumbs thanks to meds to hook grip. Happy that I kept solid form though on the 210 even if grip was turd.

Pause bench was a slight saviour. Working more shoulder mob and getting my right one back into the socket where it should be. All over 2 counts and fast presses.

Times well with my plan to back off next week, maybe relax the diet to maintenance and come back to hit it hard.

25/05/13 - Mess About

Barbell Lunges
20kg,40kg,50kg x 10
60kg x 10 x 3

Split Jerk
60kg x 1,1
70kg x 1
80kg x 1
90kg x press out

DB Clean & Push Press R/L
22kg x 5/5
30kg x 3/3
36kg x 2/2
40kg x 6/6

Neutral Cable Row
Stack x 30,35,30

Not bad. Had single leg on my to do list for a while, today proved I need it, going to need to loosen my glutes up some tonight.

Gave up on the squat jerk today, need to keep working mobility/flexibility. I have no technique for jerks and can't dedicate knowing I don't have bumpers. Shoulders were dead too.

DB C&P for cardio, it killed me, more there but would rather use a heavier DB, which I don't have access to here. Video below, long though.

210 the form stayed tight and you had a good consistent pull.

Stay strong man. Keep fighting.

02/05/13 - Lancaster Strongest Man (Novice)

Event 1 - Medley
350kg tyre x 5 flips (pretty sure that tyre was a lot smaller than that.)
80kg handles x 20m
230kg yoke x 20m

3rd place, should have made 2nd or 1st but a slip on the tyre and an early yoke drop screwed me.

Event 2 - Log C&P
75kg for 60 seconds

7 reps, 3rd or 4th I think. Not too pleased but my pressing has been crap this last week.

Event 3 - Axle Deadlift
170kg for 60 seconds, no straps

170kg x 9, 2nd. Could've pushed for a last to go equal first but didn't want to risk throwing my back off. Almost fouled the first but they were lenient. I expected this to be strapped, luckily the axle wasn't a great deal thicker than a standard bar. Not a single hitch too.

Event 4 - Arm Over Arm Truck Pull
Small truck x 10m?

15 seconds, joint 3rd or 4th. The car was really light so it was all about not loosing tension in the rope and missing a grab, also meant the times were really close.

Event 5 - Stone Over Yoke
70kg/90kg/120kg stone over yoke for 60 seconds, each worth 1/2/4 points. Choose one and stick with it.

90kg x 8?, 3rd or 4th place. Never touched a stone, never want to again. I've trained with the guy pushing them back and he really helped with telling me what to do. Took a nice chunk of skin off my face and cheek with that last one.

Overall 3rd place so not bad (no more novice competition though). Really need to work on my lungs, reps for 60 seconds and the medley destroyed me.

at is AWESOME work JT! Great job. Very impressive.

How did you get the stone to tear a chunk off on your face? Holy Moly that doesn't sound pleasant.

Great result!

Thanks Mike. Apparently finishing the stone over the bar with your face isn't the preferred technique.

Thanks Al, definitely go for it. The first thing I said after the medley was I should have found a PL meet ha.

Thanks Alan. Ye I didn't really mention it as I had no idea how it would turn out with the timing of it.

Hoping to get back to training tomorrow, only thing holding me back is the ridiculous pump I still have in my biceps. Only just gotten the ability to straighten my arms back. The stones destroyed my arms so will see what happens tomorrow.

Will hopefully find another strongman comp over summer and then hit either BDFPA or GBPF PL qualifiers in September. Going to keep cutting weight but slowly and keep getting stronger.

Wednesday was pretty crap, deads felt off, squats were off so only work was some 2 board bench up to 110kg for 6x4.

07/06/13 - Squat, Bench & Press

Warm Up
Glute ball roll x 5min per cheek
Hip band distractions x 90sec per leg
Upper back/scap ball roll x 5min per side
Rear delt/arm pit ball roll x 90sec per side

Pin Squat w/Belt About spot on parallel depth.
120kg x 3
130kg x 3
120kg x 3 x 4

Bench w/RSling
100kg x 6
110kg x 6 x 4

Military
60kg x 4 x 2

Reverse Curls
30kg x 10,10,8

Working on freeing up a lot of banged up tissue, far from enjoyable but it works.

Not been able to squat comfortably in a while, felt pretty solid today, all reps fully deloaded at the bottom and rested on the pins for a couple seconds.

Bench was okay, working on getting my R shoulder into a better position in the socket.

Too fried to press.

Adding bicep rep work in more frequently, hoping it will help with events as they were the hardest hit body part.
