No it's not. Just trying to figure out how to work with injuries, which is part of the journey. Sometimes you need to step back and give things time. I had to take a year to let my shoulder heal in 2008-2009.

Just keep listening to your body. You're doing great.

I like how you work around your problems and think through what you are doing.

Lifting is easy, right up until it isn't. When it isn't easy is when you probably learn the most and everything you learn helps all of us too.

Rock on.

I have a recurring tightness in my lower lat/QL on the left side. I found some good stretches and use tiger balm or deep heat at the start of the session.

Being successful in lifting is not about never getting injured. It's about dealing with the injuries when they happen and moving past them.

Thanks for the support everyone, was a little fed-up yesterday.

16/11/12 - Extra Squats

Squat +mini w/Belt
110kg x 3 @7
115kg x 3 @7.5

120kg x 3 @8
130kg x 3 @8
135kg x 3 @8
140kg x 3 @8
145kg x 3 @8
150kg x 3 @8.5

Squats kept getting stronger, 150 was fairly easy but it was the point where my lat started to feel it so finished there. Should be about 175kg at the top and my top triple with straight weight is 175kg x 3 @9.5.

Will fall next year.

Thought I'd roll my lat last night to start to get rid of some of the junk around there. As I was getting into position I put all my weight on the roller on my lower ribs without realising and there was a big pop/crack. Took a while to get my breath and I don't think I've ever been in that much pain, it was similar to summer when they went deadlifting. So much for them being back to normal.

So, I think that about wraps up 2012 for me ha. Plan is to rest up probably for the whole of this week and then get back to the gym slowly. Will have some fun and keep things relatively light to finish out the year ready to come back strong for 2013. Could do with spending more time on getting work done anyway.

Back to low carb now, should drop a little weight over the next month or so, could do with it after bloating myself up to 101kg to make the most of the weight class limit.

Time to start thinking of goals for 2013. Big milestones are going to fall.

Hope those ribs heal up soon. I had rib pain from separated cartilage once back in the day and it was no fun. It affects everything and took forever to feel better.

Looking forward to seeing your ideas for light and fun stuff. I can't help thinking there'll still be 170 Kg squats in there somewhere.

It's a long list.

Ye, the ribs are a bitch and taking their time to heal.

Must admit, after a year of only the big 3 and slight variations with heavy weight I was a little stuck for ideas so I went with squats and lots of squats as they hurt least.

24/11/12 - Squat Cardio

Squats 4x8
80kg x 8
90kg x 8

100kg x 8
100kg x 8
100kg x 8
100kg x 8

100kg x 10

Banded Abs Squat SS
20,20,20,20

Seated Cable Rows
40 x 30
50 x 30,30,40,40

Still in quite some pain, muscles around the ribs along with my left lat are still very tender. Can't pull, bench, press or row heavy but sub-maximal squats are all good which is handy as I am fixated on getting some beastly thighs.

For the next month or so I just want to be able to walk in the gym without having to think and get out so I can concentrate on uni. My initial thought was smolov junior, weekly cycle and simple %'s, but I want more reps and a little less intensity so I tweaked it to be 4-5x8, 5x7, 6x6, 7x5 and dropped the 8x4 and 10x3. I dropped the weight back by 3% for the 2 added days, 5% was a little high for those rep ranges. Plan is to stay beltless too and I started with a very low max.

Something I already knew but confirmed today, I suck at reps, lungs were done. Also, I got fed-up of the crap I was eating with CBL so my only carbs are going to be ~100g dextrose around 5-6pm and then milk, will experiment and see what happens, will likely only do this a couple nights a week and stick low-carb the rest of the time.

My sweats couldn't take the squat beat down.
