Well, I got humbled again. Woke up Friday morning with a sore throat and wicked sinus thing going on. What is it about flying that I always end up sick afterward? Frustrating.

Anyway, moped all weekend, but was determined to do something today, as I am starting to feel better, so I did get some Bench and Rows in. Started well, but went downhill quickly on the Bench, but rallied with the Rows so that's something.

Monday, week 5

Bench:
2x 10x bar, 10x 95
5x 135, 155, 175 (extra warmups since I'd been away for so long)
1x 185, 205, 225

1x 240 (PR)
0x 240 Bitter.
2x 1x 235
1x 225 (I barely got this one, usually it's automatic. Sad.)

2x 5x 185
ss w/ 2x 2 Pullups

BB Rows: 5x 10x 135 (plus 10lb from last time)*

Shoulder stuff and flexibility and rolled out.

So, pleased with the PR, but not pleased that I just started cratering after that. Still, with the poor eating and not feeling that well, it is what it is. I totally gave up on the 185s and pullups, as I had no energy for them at all.

Took a bit of a walk and was determined to crank out all the Rows, so very pleased I managed that. Still, it was a tough day at the office.

Oh well, they can't all be roses and candy. I'm going to eat a ton tonite to make sure I'm ready for squats tomorrow. I'm sensing those might be brutal. We'll see.

Not too many guys would have hit a bench PR after a weekend like that. Congrats Mike. Another step closer to 300. 275 will feel good too. Nothing like adding the 25s.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, it was nice putting up 240, it'll be even nicer putting it up 5 times next week! Book it. And Babs, you're right it is the recirculated air. Southwest and their ancient planes! Can't beat the price, though.

I also ate like a horse yesterday, took nyquil and slept like I was in a coma for about 10 hours, and woke up today feeling almost good. Glad of the rest day tomorrow though for sure!

ANyway, Tuesday, week 5
Oh btw, I started this week at 191. I had let my diet go when I started this routine, and I was around 195 when we left for vacation, but I apparently lost weight on the trip and with being sick. I'm going to creep the calories (esp. carbs) back a bit starting next week, to rein in the calories to around 2200-2300, working my way back to 2000 as I think I'm adjusted to this routine now. No need to keep stuffing myself.

Squat:
10x bar, 95
5x 135, 155
2x 185, 205
1x 225

5x 1x 255 (+10 lbs, all good form)
2x 5x 205 (started feeling a hip flexor thing going on)
1x 185 (stopped, definitly twinged a hip flexor, but I think it'll be fine)

Leg Press: 5x 5x 10 plates

Side Bends: 5x 12x 45, each side

Yoga for my back and some flexibility stuff and bolted for the door.

So, pleased the squats are coming along and I'm gaining confidence in doing them. I'll video one next week with 265. I think the hip thing is just some little flexor screaming about being forced back into action after almost two weeks off. It'll be fine, I'm sure. I stretched it and will keep stretching until next week.

Sounds like an average day in my life. Nyquil is my favorite sleep aid.

Didn't know you did yoga.

Good work Mike, those bench PR's seem to be a regular occurrence! Looking forward to those squats moving up too...
