Strong work brother. Don't let shaun talk you out of low reps for the big movements. He should be able to help with form, but he's been training long enough and is strong enough that he can move big weight for high reps and see good results. Big guys like you and me need a lot more weight on the bar than he does.

I'm actually training with Christopher tomorrow. I haven't really met him, but he was the gal's first thought when I told her what forms I wanted to work on.

I'm okay with low reps with more weight at this point. Gotta build

Awesome. I've seen chris deadlift 415 before. You're in good hands.

Thumbs up 9/16/11 - Friday

Training today. The guy who I'm working with seems solid, and is excited to work on my power lifting focus.

We didn't get to everything I wanted to (didn't get to deadlifts or cleans or presses), but I feel confident that my form is going to improve. The reason we didn't get to everything was this guy made me stretch.

All sorts of stretches before we started, and then rolling on the roller pad. Ouch.

Squats - Turned out I was exaggerating the arch of my back. I'll post videos of my before and after once I get them (it's on his phone). He also suggested I don't have my knees go out to the side as much, and even have them go past my toes a bit. I know this is a point of controversy, so input is welcome.
175x5
175x5
175x5

Bench - He said my form was good. I need to bring the bar all the way down onto my chest (is that required for powerlifting meets?). Suggestion here is for me to do some gnarly pushup form that I'll get more info on. If it'll help, I'm looking forward to it.
135x5
135x5
135x5

So we didn't get to Deadlifts during the session, but after he left I did
225x5
225x5
225x5

What are your guys' thoughts on stretching? How about knees past toes on squats (1"-2")?

Any other suggestions welcome. Squat videos will be posted asap.

Nice looking session.I'll let the guys who know more about squatting than I do comment on it, but the videos will help a lot.

For bench, yeah, you'll have the bring it all the way down and touch. A little below the nipples is a decent place to bring it to.

Some good numbers all around. Your progress is really impressive.
