Great work on the bench PR kuyt!

20 rep squats are a true man maker, but something I will never try again! You are a brave man for doing them.

Nice benching! I know what that's like to grind out the last rep because you want to beat Kuyt to a hundred prs! HA! I mean I know what that's like to grind out that last bench rep. Well done!

I gotta try some 20 rep squats one of these days when my grip on my sanity isn't so tight.

Thanks guys but to be fair, it was only 46-47% of my 1RM hardly much of an acheivement. Doing it at 60-65% is the aim.

Friday 25 May
Had lots of good sessions in a row so a crap one was always coming, better now than on Sunday! Although I did hit some PRs, I didn't feel as if much was accomplished. Probably because I wasn't exhausted at the end like I usually am. Lack of high rep work today is likely the reason.

Power cleans
50x4
62.5x3
72.5x2
82.5 (182) x 3 - Scraped a PR
82.5x1
82.5x2
Second set was a mess. Did the first rep in a dodgy fashion, looked down instead of up for some reason, made half an attempt, stopped, tried again, got it halfway up and that was it
Then I got pissed, walked around for around 60 seconds then tried another set, did 2 reps and realised I had no shot of making another.
Something to work on next week.

Pendlay Rows
60x5
80 (176) x 3
80x3
80x3
85 (187) x 3
85x3
First few sets were easy enough so I upped it to 85. Keeping it as a starting point next week.

Noticed that my legs are always weak early on Friday' session (several weeks in a row) but I get much stronger as the session wears on. I may do rows first next week, individual quirks!

One Arm Rows
35x6
40x6
42.5 (94) x 6 - might be a PR

Rack Pulls
100x5
140x1
160x1
170 (374) x 1
Will go for 3-5 @170 next week. Did these sumo, not a great idea as I had to stand on 25kg plates to get the bar just below the knee making it awkward. Conventional for these in future.

One arm hammer curls
25 (55) x 6
25x6

Two arm hammer curls
17.5x6
20(44) x 6

Weighted Crunches - Held 20kg plate at arm's length
3x12

Great work Kuyt and splendid determination. You're a credit to the breed.

One thing I might say though is don't force cleans. If they are not there one day, stop and move on. Form is more important than the weight. If you just manhandle it up, you will of course keep adding more weight, but you will hit a wall when your strength cannot overcome the bad habits you have acquired because of dogged determintion to keep increasing weight.

Just my .02. Strong as always buddy.

Thanks guys. @ Mike - I see what you're saying. My first set was actually fairly decent. I gave it a couple of seconds between reps, composed myself and exploded into the rep. It all went hideously wrong after. I'll try and improve it next week as always.

Saturday 26 May

Push Press
40x4
50x3
60x2
70x1
77.5 (171) x 3
77.5x3
77.5x3
Strained behind my left shoulder early doors. Made all the reps and kept it to the bare minimum. Should be ok in a few days, nothing major but better safe than sorry.

Weighted Dips + 5kg: 4, 4, 4
Did these as I was waiting for one of the 2 benches. Today really is weekly bench day around here.

Close Grip Bench
60x5
85(187) x 3
85x3
85x3
85x3
85x4
How far apart should the grip be on these? I keep my hands 8-10 inches apart. These are finally getting better.

Paused Bench
65(143) x 10
65x10
65x10
Decided that I may as well begin paused benching after more Prof advice
Was very testing from the 7th rep onwards.

1 mile jog on treadmill- 5 mph @3% incline

My 'close-grip' has gotten wider as I've gotten wider so snywhere between index finger touching smooth, to thumb away from smooth works for me. Currently I go thumb away from smooth and that's decent.
