Thanks a lot chaps. Actually Steve, the Gripps felt awkward on the one set I used them for. I guess they need a breaking in period or something. Today was one of those crappy sessions where everything felt like a PR weight. The squat gods don't like me very much as they seem to like seeing me suck at them!
Anyway, I got in, got the work done and got out sans injury which is always a win. Besides, it doesn't matter if it feels heavy or light so long as it gets lifted!

Wednesday 25 April
13 x chins: 5, 5, 3

Deadlift
60x5
70x4
80x3
100x2
120x1
Work sets
135 (297) x 3
135x3
135x3
135x3
135x3 - Much harder than they should have been.

Pendlay Rows
75(165) x 3
75x3 - Realised that I am doing these twice a week and I should be doing the 5x6-5x10 protocol.
60 (132) x 6
60x6
60x6

Squats
80(176)x6
80x6
80x6
80x6
80x6 - I wore a belt for sets 1,4 and 5. Feels like cheating but these sets were laughably and embarrassingly difficult. Pure conditioning really as I was wrecked after each set! Next week will surely be better.

Lat Pulldown
Pin 11: 3 x 8

Arm Curls
32.5 (72)x7
32.5x7
32.5x7 - Gunz woooo!

Nice work, your conditioning will pick up. The higher rep/set work is good stuff.

We have to lift through those tough days to get to the good ones. Great work, Kuyt.

Thanks guys. As I briefly mentioned on Shoutbox, I missed yesterday's session due to the effects of an exotic natural herbal drink. It was supposed to detox me but instead, it made my stomach feel like it was stabbed, kept me awake all night and assaulted my digestive system. I honestly found it hard to walk as my body had suddenly cramped up Only had 2 insubstantial meals in 36 hours prior to today's session so I pleasantly surprised. Last night's sleep did me the world of good.

Saturday April 28

Chins x 15: 5, 5, 5 - Delighted with these, dead hang.

Push Press
30x5
40x3
50x2
60x1
67.5 (149) x3
67.5x3
67.5x3
67.5x3
67.5x3

Power Cleans - Was supposed to do these yesterday
72.5 (160) x 3
72.5x3
72.5x3
72.5x3
72.5x2 - Fatigued and my technique went south. Still moving up to 75 next friday as presumably I will be a lot fresher.

Close Grip Bench- That low bench I'm always talking about is horrible for these. The bar rests about 9 inches from my face so unracking it is a hard task. Surely the bar is set too low?

50x5
70x3
82.5 (182) x 3
82.5x3
82.5x3
82.5x3
82.5x3

Bench Press
65 (143) x 7
65x7
65x7
65x7
65x7 - Hard work. Triceps dead by now.

Good session all things considered. Got a proper leather lifting belt in the mail today and can't wait to try it out on squats tomorrow.

Great work! Nice way to come back after being under the weather. I would think the bar is too low on the bench as well. You will enjoy the belt!!!!
