You'll probably find you flip-flop between two (or more) rep schemes. Don't feel like there is anything wrong with that or that you have to justify it, just make sure you keep records for each so you know what to beat when you get to it.

Good work on the squats.

I was never a big fan of singles for squats and deads, bench on the other hand I love. 5x3 is what I like to program a lot, a lot of heavy reps.

You'll get there. Experiment, learn, progress.
They did resemble yours actually but not as good!

Thanks big guy. I hope the next 2 years sees me get even half of what you achieved in your last 2.

Good work on the squats.
Thanks Prof. There are a million and one programs and set/rep schemes. Changing sets and reps is one thing, ripping up what could be a winning formula is another. If I get to 5 sets of 3 @ 95% of my current 1RM for example, I will have made amazing progress. Planning on running this for 14-15 weeks to August then maybe re-testing the 1RM. I am writing down my starting weights and calculating what needs to be done for an estimated 5x3 performance in 14 weeks.

I'd be thrilled to emulate your lifting

Thanks mate. Was an awesome feeling.

Tuesday 10 April
Low back feels a tad beat up so today didn't feel as easy as perhaps it should have. Hopefully, I got one big lift left in me tomorrow.

Squats
60x5
80x3
105x3 - Belt opened after first rep!
105x3
105x3 - Stood too far back and hit post!
105x3
105x3 - Decided to have a look at 75% of squat for 5x3. First few sets were a mess as I wasn't on my game and had a few mishaps as you see above. Actually got better for the final sets. Maybe an extra set or two warm up is needed.

Bench
60x5
70x3
85x3
85x3
85x3
85x4 - 3rd rep did not touch chest so I punished myself by doing another!
85x3
Again, more warm up sets may help. Last sets felt better.

BTNP - Used large Olympic bar today
40x5
50x3
50x3
50x3
50x3
50x3 - Was very strict with these though I used a shoulder width stance and grip. Pretty decent actually.

Weighted Dips + 20kg
6,5,5

Rope Pulldown
Pin 20: 10, 10, 8

One last session before rest tomorrow.

Great work on the 140 squat!

Good work today as well. Some additional warm up sets should do you well. That said, with the heavier loads, it sometimes takes a few sets before that perfect groove is found.

It's good that you're listening to your body. A huge key to long term success.

A very strong session kuyt!

Just an idea that works for me but I know a lot of people don't like this route. For warmups I do a few more sets then you but instead of doing each set for reps I just do 3 for the first one then singles on the rest.
