Nice work buddy, I like pin presses. They are very awkward but you get used to them.

I am going to send you the template now so you can look it over.

I got your e-mail and the plan. It looks good and I am definitely going to do it. I have a few questions about it. 1) I don't have boxes to deadlift off of. Suggestions? 2) I think this may pertain to any percentage based program, but does your max go up much if you are only pulling 90% of it during training?

If you do not have boxes, you can do rack deadlifts not sure if they have a rack you can do that at your gym. Otherwise you can just do partial deads, start at the top position and only lower it to your knees, but you would have to use less weight

Yes, your max will go up even though you are only using up to 90% of your weights, because you are doing multiple reps and sets with these weights. You are also getting in a ton of volume on your lifts which works great for some people but not for everyone.

Sheiko definitely works, it helped my bench a ton. Also, helped my deadlift a lot too.

What is the benefit of partial deadlifts? Especially since I feel like my bigger issue is getting the weight started. I'm sure there is some logical reasoning behind doing box deadlifts instead of full range of motion but I can't figure it out since I've never done them.

I'm excited to get a good week of rest next week and hit Sheiko hard the week after.

Default Squats 07/28/2011

Squats
Warm Ups
45 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x5
Working Sets w/ Belt
245 x 1
265 x 1
285 x 1
335 x 1 PR

I used the advice given to me to work up to 90% of my max then go for a new PR and it felt great. I regret not going for 345 because 335 was heavy but I could've done more if I hadn't spent so much energy on 335.

Leg Press
360 x 10
450 x 6
540 x 5

Leg Extension
120 x 12
130 x 12
140 x 12
150 x 12

Lately my squats have felt great. My hips and lower back have felt great and I've been able to just get into the groove. I plan on looking back at my workouts to determine what may have been the greatest help.

Strongman workout tomorrow then vacation for a week.

Nice workout buddy!! Squats are looking very strong, it is almost time for you to compete!!!

As for partial deadlifts, some people find they have more benefits than others. They are a little less taxing on your body because of the shorter ROM. Deadlifts are tough on your whole body. Also, they force you to start the lift at a different angle which can be a little awkward and work your muscles differently.

Like the log Boucher, squats and deads are really strong! Anymore strongman training in the future?

Thanks T-Bone! Strongman training tomorrow after work. This is only the third week of it and it has already become the day I look forward to the most.

Thanks! I certainly plan on it! Of course I'll be bringing some bands to do some daily shoulder work like I have been though.
