You may have just hit that sweet spot where the workout is taxing your overall body to a degree where it wants to respond. I am not sure how long you ran the reeves, but maybe you didn't hit that stride with progression that was pushing you over the edge. Hard to say.

I ran the Reeves for 21 weeks . I was at the point where I had no energy and was completely drained after doing the high rep sets at the weight I was using. I switched to this routine to get away from the high reps for a while. it seems to be just what the dr ordered.

Todays session, week 5 day 1 Real results. heavy day

dead lifts
5x135 1 min rest
5x155 1 min
3x185 1 min
4x3x205 1 min rest on all dead lift sets. felt easy

Squats
5x135 1min
5x185 1 min
3x205 1 min 30 sec
4x3x235 +5 lbs 2 min rest between sets

BTNP
5x135 1 min
5x150 1 min
3x165 1.30
4x3x185 2 min rest between sets+5 lbs

Bench press
8x135 1 minute rest ( come down slow to chest, explode up on all sets)
8x165
8x185 +10 lbs from week before last( last week used dumbbells for the stretch)

Dumbbell rows
4x6x95 = +5 lbs (used straps so that all concentration went on shoulders and back. really hit rear delts)

DIPS
10,10,10,8,5 fried

Chin ups
6,5 had nothing left

Abs
seated cable crunch 75lbs x 15x2 +5 lbs

Side bends
2x10x95lbs

Total time today was 1hr 25 minutes.

Squats felt good at 235 with 2 minutes rest. Im thinking that high pulls will stay where they are from last week and work the bhtnp and squats at this weight this week and next but next week go up on the high pull which makes squats and bhtnp harder. Progression is going to start slowing down I believe. I will try to work this way for a while and see how it works alternating progression from week to week.

I think the extra strength is a combanation between eating more and I have been back on test charge for a week. I figure If im going to eat more and push harder for progression, its a great time to boost the testosterone.

I used Test charge for 3 cycles when i first started doing the Reeves program. The last 2 months on the reeves was all me. I do think that my levels started dropping toward the end of my 5th month and that could be why I was starting to struggle with the weight on 12 reps.

This is going to be atleast a 2 month cycle as I bought 2 kits while it was deal of the day last week. I may run a 3rd cycle if I see great progression bulking, dont want to lose it over not buying a 3rd kit. Though it seems to keep levels elevated for a couple months after the cycle ends.

I am going to have to change routines for a while. Going to get on my boat at work this morning I slipped on a metal ramp with a steep decline and broke my right ankle in 2 places. I find out tomorrow about surgery. Er doc said looks to him like plates and screws to fix it.
Will continue as I can on bhtnp , rows and bench along with lay pull downs or curls.

Most likely stay on a 3 day routine but upper body only and as the leg starts getting better I'll have to start over with square .

It sucks but it could have been much worse. I fought myself as I was sliding off the side the ramp and that's. 30 ft drop to ground

Sorry to hear about the ankle! Just hang in there and do what you can. It may not be ideal, but you can find ways to work around it. Believe me, I've been on the injury bus a lot the last few years, and less than optimal training is worlds better than no training at all!!!!!
Glad the change in routine has worked well for you.
I find that if I drive a routine into the ground, and then make a relatively drastic change in the routine I'm using (rep range, volume, etc.) that my body reacts very well. I get maximal gains out of the routine I was doing, and I get the whole "muslce confusion"( I hate that term) factor of making a drastic switch.

@ steve . It's the right ankle.
Josh this routine was really doing great. I'll recover and work my way back into it. May take a while but I'm in no hurry. I broke this ankle 8 years ago and it ended a 1 year long fitness phase I went through.
This time around I know that waiting until my ankle heals to train again is a bad idea so I will do what it takes to keep going. Make sure I keep up my supplements and vitamins along with protien.
I'm actually not doing to bad with the idea of 2 months at home. Not feeling pulled in 10 directions as I can't do everything I'm asked to do for people.
