Good leg day today. Met up with a guy from the university and got him started on starting strength, he's liking it a lot and his form is really pretty good. First time I've trained with someone taller than me, the guy is 6'7", so has a couple inches on me. Pretty cool.

All the symptoms of over-training are there. Malaise, no motivation, unable to concentrate. Supposedly you're supposed to take time off when this happens.

If only it was regarding lifting.

Work is almost impossible to focus on these past couple weeks. The gym is going great, good focus and energy, but sitting down in front of the computer and creating architecture for a new database or updating some old code in a program I wrote is daunting.

I don't feel at home in my own skin anymore. I love picking up heavy things, putting them down, and then trying to pick up something heavier. I want to dedicate my life to that. Probably the wrong time for a career change, but it sounds nice right now.

Think I'll take a vacation once my current project finishes next week. Some extra rest and time away from work might do me some good.

Thanks man. Once I actually quit moaning about it, I got an 8 hour project done in about 3 hours. Took a 15 minute nap and that helped get me jump started. I love my job and and damn good at it, but the 3 PM doldrums are harsh on any man.

Rage. Jacked up my right shoulder/triceps on push press today. I'll live, but frustrated with the injury. I should have stopped at the first initial pain but kept going anyway. Dumb.

Push press
125x5

140x4.5 - last one was too painful to lock out

Rest of the session was left arm only

1 arm db press
45x10/9/7

1 arm overhead db extension
20x12/10/8 - a lot stronger than before

1 arm triceps extension w/cables
20x12/12/12

Concentration curl
30x12/10/7

Still irritated, but i know whats wrong with my form now i think. elbows are all flared out, pointing in and down at the bottom. Not 100% sure what presses should look like (will be looking at videos) but fairly certain this is wrong.

Thanks Jesse! I think if I had brought my straps today I could have done 405, but grip would slip a fraction of an inch when I would try to break the weight and I think that may have been enough to keep my from being able to keep it moving. Hoping the static holds will improve that.

Project is almost finished, running several hours ahead of schedule, and even managed to get a couple hours of sleep last night. Today was my weigh in and with the stress and lack of sleep and the whole chicken soaked in coconut milk i ate last night i didn't expect to lose weight but...

252.2 Down 1.6 pounds

Diet and exercise seem to be taking the fat off. Who knew?
