Thanks Tank & MAB. Neck is feeling great! 100% ROM is back and only a slight bit of pain/ stiffness. I'll be back in full swing next week, but I think I may knock 10-20% of my top end sets for the first full week back. I'll play it by ear and see how it feels in the morning.

Thanks Kuyt Glad you like the new style; I'm hoping it adds at least 25 pounds to each of my lifts.

Thanks BtB! I'm glad to be back under the bar, 5 days off felt like an eternity. I'm planning on keeping the beard at least until the summer humidity starts, and then I may bring it down to a goatee.

Went for a relatively short hike, only about an hour, yesterday through Giant City state park. Beautiful area. Took the dog and we sprinted the hills and stairs, so we were both pretty worn out by the end of it.

Neck it feeling 99% now. Squats and bench in an hour or two.

Have a good session. Took a long, leisurely hike myself yesterday. Surprisingly no leg soreness today.

No soreness is a good thing. Half the time I end up more sore from hiking than I do squats or deads.

So, a pretty good session today. A little timid, but maybe thats not a bad thing for my first full strength session back.

Squat - these looked WAY better than they have been lately. More upright, better knee tracking.

Bar x 10
135 x 5
185 x 3
225 x 2
275 x 1
315 x 1 - felt pretty good, but a little heavy on the upper back
225 x 5
225 x 3
225 x 3

Bench - missed my goal reps, but a large part of it was timidity as this is where I got hurt last week.
Bar x 10
95 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 3
225 x 1
195 x 5
195 x 7
195 x 6 - 18 reps, repeat until i hit 24+

Bench notes: several things I noticed.
1. The benches are very narrow, and if I'm not careful, I end up with one shoulderblade hanging off the sides
2. I can get uneven on how far I bring the bar down, right side goes lower than left if I'm not careful
3. Its a constant battle not to let my elbows flare out

Rows
45 x 10
95 x 5
135 x 5
155 x 5
175 x 5 - beginning to stress my back a little, so stopped for today. Thinking I may do a heavy row and a reps row on different days

Good observations. We'll get them ironed out. Nice session Brute.

Thanks MAB!

Pretty simple session today, but my legs are hating me already.

KB Swing
45 x 15 per arm

Goblet Squat - rest limited to switching DBs
45 x 5
50 x 5
55 x 5
75 x 5
100 x 2

Squat
Bar x 5
135 x 3 - 5 second pause in the hole
225 x 2
225 x 1
295 x 1
295 x 1
225 x 1
135 x 1

Aside from the 295 they were very nice looking. 295 high bar was a struggle, 295 low bar felt pretty light

DB Row
45 x 5 - pulled a little more than I liked on the upper back

Neck felt pretty good throughout. The DB rows were a little uncomfortable, so I stopped with those quickly. High bar squats seemed to do a pretty good job of sitting directly on the place where the muscle knots up, neck is feeling better now than it did earlier this morning.

Really wanted to do DB snatches, but thats too much stress on the neck/traps right now, maybe in a couple weeks.

Another thing, as long as I'm thinking about it, is my squat for reps has gone to hell; I need to make sure I work on those more frequently. I've been slacking on them since they come after my heavy bench day, but for the next 12 weeks I have no excuses since school won't be butting up against my lifting time.
