5 - 17 - 11 --- Recovery

Front Squat - 3x3x260
Press - 3x5x160
Pull Ups - 5x9x20, 1x14xbw
*Good Morning 3x8x165

Notes

Same weight as the last week/2 weeks, but the key with the TM is more so weekly volume. Front squats felt good, reps were slow but easier than previous weeks. Based on feel, I was tempted to push for a 1RM or something close, but I don't want to deal with any of a PR's repercussions with squats on friday. Finished squatting with 2x5x165 with the back squat - again, to really get my technique down with the new stance.

Pressing was pretty awful. All reps were made of course, but they just they just felt like shit. On video review, the presses just looked a hair slower than usual. Pull ups also felt shitty. This week's pull up goal was to hit 6x9 with 20lbs in the vest, but I knew after the 5th set that another 9 reps were not going to be made. I couldn't not do a 6th set though, so I got back up to the bar and pulled out an ugly but acceptable set of 14 at body weight.

Finished with some good mornings as per my mentioning earlier of additional lower back work. GM's will also be a mainstay: On review my logs from the past year I've noticed GM's appear to aid my squat almost immediately. My log shows that when I do GM's a few days before squats, more times than not I hit a rep or weight PR, or lift better than what I had planned. We'll see how this goes. Also had some pain in my right tibialis anterior for the past week when squatting in training or around the house/yard work/etc. GM's seem to have fixed this instantly. Have not put much thought into the pain but an interesting observation.

Appreciate the compliments.

8 - 19 - 11 --- Intensity Day

Squat - 1x5x355
Push Press - 2x4x210... erhhh
Deadlift - 1x2x400, 1x8x400
*DB Rows (elbows out) 3x10x60

Notes

Well, squats went pretty well. Was shooting for 345 with the new stance, but warming up felt too good, so I jumped at 355. Reps all made and excited for the coming weeks. Very comfortable now with the new stance.

Push Presses pissed me off. Goal was 1x5x210 but f'd up on the 5th rep of the first set. It was a stupid technical error. All I had to do was push my head through and rotate my elbows to the out side. I ONLY realized this when I racked the bar. Determined I went for 5 reps again and admittedly the reps moved much quicker and smoother than the first set (in part to rage), but I was toast by the end of the 4th rep and 5 didn't make it overhead.

Finished the main work off with deads. The set of 2x400 was stopped because my hands were sweaty to the point that chalk was turning into a gel/paste and not helping. Grabbed straps and immediately jumped back on the bar and pulled another 8 reps. Reps look OK on video, but based on the feel of technique, its obvious I haven't been deadlifting.

Ended with DB rows 3x10x60 with the elbows out to the side. Over all a good day and trying not to be pissed about the push press... but it was just one of those stupid mistakes...AH!
