Default 15 September 2011

B4ULS - Lower B - Week 5 - Round 2
Deadlift - 135x6, working - 205x8 - 3 sets
Front Squats - 110x12 - 4 sets
Leg Press - 615x12 - 4 sets
Leg Extension - TIME
SM Calf Raises - 230x12 - 4 sets
Seated Calf Raises - 170x12 - 4 sets

Deads right on point! Up-down, no problem!

Front Squats - Brutal! I began questioning my sanity during the last two sets. "Why am I doing these?" But I finished every rep, and was glad I did! Felt so energized, despite my heaving lungs.

Out of time for extensions, ok with that.

You're not alone. I hear that voice every time I do front squats.

When I see you guys do them on videos, I think "How in the HECK?" With the weight in front of you instead of on your back, I know I'd be tempted to just drop the darn bar.

Solid work, Jim!

Anyone who does sets of twelve on front squats deserves a medal. My god. I love front squats, but I couldn't contemplate doing over five reps. The pressure on the thorax and breathing muscles make it one of the toughest exercises, with regard to breathing.

Thanks Nard, I thought the same thing until I did them. The weight in front helps me lean back and keep the weight on my heels.

Thanks for the comments Tannhauser! I'd feel the same way if I was doing them heavy. I added them as a way to squat twice in one week; had no idea they would be so tough. And I hear you on the breathing...I am so winded after doing these I feel I don't need cardio!

Default 16 September 2011

B4ULS - Upper B - Week 5 - Round 2
Pullups - BWx5, x3, x3, x2 - looka that boyeez!
Push Press - 100x6 - 3 sets
OHP - 65x12 - 4 sets
Facepulls - 10th pin x12 - 4 sets
Dips - BW x 25, x17, x15, x13
Barbell Curl - 85x10, x8, x6, x6

Very proud of my 13 pullups. Obviously the previous weeks doing pullups with assistance has paid off.

Shoulder work felt good and I felt strong the rest of the session, even though I didn't get as many dips as I anticipated.
