Well, I made it back to the iron dungeon Wednesday night, refreshed and ready to go. I actually went in to lift Tuesday night, but as I was putting my Chucks on, I realized that I left my notebook at home. The guys laughed at me for not wanting to lift without my notebook. So I returned home, dejected. It felt kinda like putting on a rubber then not getting to do it. Funny thing is, that happened to me once too.

Oh well, I digress

Wednesday, 10/21/09

Chest/Biceps

Work sets listed. I DID NOT GO TO FAILURE. I'll probably stop short of failure for the next week or so just to reacclimate myself. The mind is refreshed, the elbows are still sore.

Smith Flat BP (195x3)

Cybex Incline Press (130x6)

Cybex Fly (75x6)

pec stretch 20# 30 seconds (I debated about doing the extreme stretches at all, but once I realized that it has been a while since the muscles have been worked my decision was all but made).

EZ Bar Preacher Curl (65x6)

Seated DB Curl (25x5)

Cable Curl (70x7)

bicep stretch 60 seconds

Done in about 23 minutes. Afterwards I enjoyed a quart of Fruit Punch Gatorade and 2 scoops of chocolate ON whey.

I know the feeling (not about the rubber, though I've been there a few times myself)...if I don't have my workout notes it's hard for me to focus. I'm not much of a freestyler.

Good to see you back at it. Hopefully next time around you'll be a failure, so to speak.

I've become used to having my notebook there as well. Luckily for me it's just a short walk back into the house to get it.

There is a "Field of Dreams" smart-ass comment to go along with your rubber comment. I'll leave that for another time.

Almost every time I lift I have to check my log for the past week and make sure I'm progressing.

I found that to be the most indespensible tool, my notebook that is. I'd rather lift without the proper foundation garments than not have my notes there. For me, its difficult to remember where I'm at (weight wise), because of the nature of the routine ('A Series' one week, 'B Series' the next). It winds up being over two weeks between a repeat of "Chest/Bicep A". There's alot of other things on my mind. So I always take it to the gym. Lift. Come home. Take the note book out of my bag. Post on this board. Put the notebook back in my bag...except for last time.

About the silly "rubber" comment. As I said, it actually happened to me once. And do you know what I ended up doing? I married her. No regrets.

Saturday, 10/24/09

Shoulders/Tri's
20 minutes. Work sets listed. Again, Not to Failure.

Cybex Shoulder Press (140x7)

WG Upright Row (85x6)

BB Front Raise (50x4)

shoulder stretch - about 60 seconds

Dips (BW+5) x 6

DB Flat Skull Crusher (70x4) - I tried DB's this time. I found it was faster than changing plates on the bar, but I didn't feel nearly as secure as I do with the bar. What I may try is setting up a bar with my work weight, then do my warm up set with DB.

WG Cable Pushdown (110x7)

tricep stretch 30# for about 60 seconds each arm.

Post work out = pizza, Dr. Pepper, and birthday cake. My former six year old had her birthday party with her school friends. Daddy wouldn't miss it for anything.

Sounds like a good post-workout meal to meal.

Yeah, it's kind of a variation. I call it a dc "lite." Something I picked up on another forum and tweaked a bit. Those guys over there were pretty much jerks. Wouldn't answer simple questions, so I took my ball and went home.
