Week 2 of rebuilding my pec/raw bench

floor press
3x5@bar
3x5@135
3x5@135 plus 80lbs in chain rest of way out
1x5@185
1x5@225
1x5@275
1x3@315
1x1@335

incline dumbbell press 3x8
double arm band push downs 3x30

I have not done much floor pressing, or raw bench for that matter in awhile. The chain really never deloaded so total it was over 400lbs. I will take that for first time out.

That was some neat math you did there.

Even if the chains did not deload anything, they still made some sweet sounds I hope!

Off to a great start JB!

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

I have began to start off every morning with a 30-45 minute walk to help with my weight cut. So far it has not been too bad, it has given me a chance to make a mental checklist of things I have to do during the day. I bring my dog along with me (9 year old Pit bull named Hercules). He is in worse shape than me!

Wednesday is my typical squat and deadlift auxiliary day. Currently I still have a focus on bringing up my upper back strength. It is an area that has fallen behind, and has held up both my squat and deadlift.

McGill Pull Ups 12x1
One Arm KB Swings 3x10
SSB Squats 3x10
Dead Stop Rows 5x5
Sumo Double Over Hand Shrugs 5x6
Lat Pull Down 3x15

Ended the day off with a few extra sets of McGill crunches. I substituted some really light SSB squats for my typical goblets due to some pain in the forearm as well as the elbow. I am sure it is just tendinitis, but no need to push it. Iced both elbows when I got home just to be safe.

Training to improve on my best competition lifts of 1040 squat, 705 bench, and 730 deadlift. Currently working my way down to the 275 class.

Finally getting back on track this week with my normal training set up. Saturday was my squat/deadlift combo day, and it was nice to get them back on the same day again. I just never seem to have the ability to recover well enough to do them on separate days, and doing them together and rotating intensities has paid off well for me.

Squats with SSB (75lb bar)
33@bar
23@165
23@255
23@345
13@435
13@500

Form pulls using conventional stance
13@135
13@225
13@315
51@405

Overall a solid productive day. Keeping the RPE low for now, but will slowly pick up over the next few weeks.

Enjoy the squat.pull combo days while you can - I would do them together as well if I could - my knees just would not have anything to do with it, after doing the combo for 2-3 weeks in a row. I think it's just an aging thing with the joints.

I also walk every work day - during lunch and breaks, and I feel it has paid off well for me. The body was designed to move - period.

BIG SSB Squats JB!! They looked deep and fast.
