It only gets harder with age for me. More and more I lose my incentive to look good. The focus turns to staying strong and healthy.

Understood...I do want to look good but not at the price of my strength. It is one of the only things that differentiates me from those in my age group; ok that and my ever emerging manbeard

Well one thing I will say is that when you look "too good" at an older age, you really stand out. There are not too many 40 & 50-somethings with abzors and bicepts. I know for a fact if I walked into my kid's school functions looking like Ripped Joe, my wife would try to fatten me up very quickly.

Funny you say that as I was just designing my program after the meet in order to give my joints a break...I think that I am going with a 6 week Poliquin 10x10 followed by a 5x5 and see if I am left with any gains in prettiness. After all my wife is 19 years my junior and my children are 6 and 3 so maybe I should still look a little good

Sounds like a solid plan for the meet, Jesse.

I think the 'look good' aspect is more diet related. You will certainly maintain/build muscle doing the power thing.

Tom, I am fairly lean most of the time. Waist is 32-33"s but I definitely lose the pump size when Powerlifting and get it back when I do pump type workouts..whatever I lose form this workoout I should gain back in the 6 weeks of 10x10.

My wife is older than me. But if she was 19 years younger I probably would want a little more roar, so to speak.

I'm going more joint friendly after this meet. I have a goal so look semi-decent, get some pics done, and stay 220-230 for health reasons. It's also lower insurance costs, which is huge for us right now.

Good thing you don't have Bob Paris' book. All the workouts are about 40 sets a day I believe. After about 6 sets I'm ready for the chair.
