Jim, I wanted to thank you for telling me to get the versagripps. I really enjoyed deadlifting in them. Even now my forearms hurt in a weird kind of way I'm not used to. Anyway, always looked up to you, and followed your advice. I was super proud to match your 430x5 deadlift only to find out you 440x5'd. Sheesh that'll be tough to match. Nice work.

Indeed - the more the merrier! I am only going for it tho if I feel I am ready.

Your welcome Fen! The Versagripps are such a great tool to gain strength. I have also found that I am still able to maintain enough grip strength to do a single or double, no matter what the weight, so I in no way feel that using the VG's will be detrimental to the grip at meets when only singles are required of course.

That 440X5 was tough, but I feel I got 445-450 X5 in me. If need be, I will train with triples for deadlifts. I'll do some singles tho when I feel like it. However, I have to refrain from doing heavy singles to often as I feel bang for the buck is not there when maxing-ish too often.

BENCH DAY WITH THE CREW

I had very little energy in the gym today, and I suspect it was the gawd awful heat in there today. I am quickly finding out that whenever it is too hot in there, which it is most summer days, my strength seems like it is zapped big time. I am used to training in the air conditioned JimGym and I am not handling the heat very well. It is also making me feel ill in there. I know, you all feel so sorry for me lol. Oh well, I reckon training under adverse conditions is a good thing sometimes.

Renewed my membership today as well, despite the heat I will be lifting there for another year. It's only $40.00 per month when paid 1 year in advance. Month to month is $50.00. Not bad for what is really one of the finest lifting facilities around as they cater to Oly, Strongman, and Powerlifting there. I still have to pay my Crew Dues on top of that, but again that is a bargain as well at $300.00 per year.

Poor old pitiful Jim having to lift in the heat! No sympathy from a Texan fella

Still put in a good session and a nice paused bench single. Meadows rows looking good too! I'll be going for 100's this week.

On a side note, they had a death on the Texas Giant roller coaster at Six Flags yesterday. A woman somehow came out of the restraining straps and fell to her death!!

Haha - somehow I knew there would be little to no sympathy coming from south of the border. I will likely have to start using VG's on the rows, as I have more in the tank but grip gives out. We'll see.

No more amusement parks for me!! Man, what a horrible way to go. Nobody thinks of the risks when they go to any amusement park. However, you likely have a much bigger chance of getting hit by lightning that being killed at an amusement park.

Yeah it had to be terrible, her daughter was on the ride with her too! Haven't heard any details yet from the investigation into how it happened, but I will be very interested to hear.
