I would include some of that stretching and rolling on rest days too to help recovery.

DEADLIFT DAY

Was not feeling the love on pulls tonight. Every pull felt heavy as hell. Despite having 2 complete days off, I was pretty beat up going in due to extreme amounts of snow shoveling. One of the worst Blizzards in history blew in Sunday night. I woke up Monday morning to a 10X35 X4 foot high snowdrift blocking my garage. Shoveled that and much of the alley. Went to work - and a very stressful drive at that. Drove home only to find the snowdrift back with a vengeance. Had to park in the alley while I shoveled that out. Car subsequently got stuck in alley, so had to dig that out. Tuesday morning, awoke to the snowdrift once again. had to shovel it again. Car got stuck in alley again. Dig it out. Another stressful drive to work and back. Almost got stuck in alley again, as the Blizzard continued. Pretty pleased tho that I was able to handle the shoveling so well. Wind chills was like minus 50.

On the 510 pull, my right grip was giving out, thus affecting my lockout. I was quite surprised it didn't drop as it was on my fingertips. Last week, my left hand was failing. My hands have actually been sore for about a month now. I think it may be prudent for me to take a week and a half break from pulling.

Squats, on the other hand, felt great tonight. Have no idea why, but I am not going to complain. Form, I thought, was some of my best ever. I judge my form on depth of course, but mainly bar path. If my path is mostly straight up and down, with the end of the bar over my heels in the hole, I know my form was on point. If it's over my toes or beyond, I am leaning.

So, I am feeling really thrashed and as beat up as I ever have been. Two complete days off now, and hopefully I will be ready to bench on Saturday with the crew.

Deadlifts
225 X3
315 X1
405 X1
465 X1

Some superb working once again super Jim ... I don't know how you do it but your just an incredible lifter ... Just awestruck whenever I see your log. Lots of wt. movement with fine form ... I would have been very happy pulling that 510 and called it a day but you did some volume squats after that followed by more volume on shrugs ... Inspirational work as usual brother ... and yes Can we count that snow shovel as cardio .. hahaha ...

Thanks Jay!! Never could afford one before! Might get one, we'll see. For the 1 or 2 blizzards we get, not sure if worth the cost. We'll see. It probably snows more in the US than here! I heard this blizzard/cold has now enveloped 27 states.

Thanks Ravi!! The only thing that allows me to do this is my health, which I finally have after all these years

Thanks Nick!! I have Nike Romaleos. Deads have come a long way. A 550 pull by spring would be just dandy!

It blows my mind that you're able to squat so much after heavy deadlift/shoveling sessions!
