Thanks Babs. It is really great and makes me feel so much a part of the family here when I have so much support for either straps or no straps.

I am doing it for myself tho, not because of others syaing I should. I feel this a a great opportunity to get it done. Its now or never. If worse comes to worse, i can always go back to the straps as last resort.

SQUAT 07/19/11

Front Squat
95 X6
135 X6
135 X10 See Vid
135 X10

BB Hack Squat
185 X3
185 X5
185 X5
185 X5 See Vid
These felt a bit awkward this morning, likely because my grip was failing. I was probably a bit too progressive with the weight, going from 135 last week. This grip thing is going to take some time and I just have to remember to think of that when I choose my weights.

Frog Squat
BW X10 Reps X11 Sets PB +1 set from last week
These are killer

RDL's
135 X6
135 X6
135 X6
I took a bit of a gamble trying these, as last week was an absolute no-go. Amazingly, they caused no irritation. Going to have to be cautious tho.

GHR's
BW X5 PB +1 Rep
BW X5
BW X5

I wanted to try front squats and I'm glad I did. They felt great. I'm not going to be fooled into thinking it's completely healed tho. I'm just going to progress at my own pace as I see fit. With that said, I really cannot wait to SHFW again.

I also discovered my grip strength is pretty bad. It's going to be interesting to see how it progresses.

Going to rest and shrink for a couple of days now.

Hey, Jim, have you tried putting your heels up on a 2x4 or something when you hack squat? In the video, you have a bit of a hitch that I think might be alleviated with a bit of a boost to your foot angle.

Just a thought. Keep crushing! I love to see you kissing bars again.

Nice session Jim. My guess is that the grip will progress quickly. Mine did when I removed straps. So did my forearm size

Awesome stuff in here, Jim! Good to see you front squatting without discomfort - that's definitely a step in the right direction!

Thanks Al. How long ago did you ditch the straps? I don't recall you ever using them. Bigger forearms would be a nice bonus.

Thanks Ken It was a great feeling as they are closer to back squats than the Donkey squats, so it was a big test.

I ditched straps around January/February 2010. Chalk has helped a lot. I know Mrs S doesn't like the mess so liquid chalk would be a good middle ground for you.

Still looking strong in here, Jim. Would never know your back has been bothering you from those vids.
