I haven't retested my max yet, so I cannot say for sure. However, I like how they assist in a full range of motion, as opposed to boards which aren't full ROM. They also help train your arms and shoulder to be in the proper position. I also do them paused as to not take advantage of the bounce of the chest it will give you. I see no logical reason why it won't help. However, I like to do a mix of paused, paused slingshot, and full rom raw and backoff work as to not rely on the slingshot.

It's simply an effective tool. mark Bell can't be wrong! Right?

Besides, Steve endorses it. I think he was one of the first to use one here.

will jump in here if thats ok Jim!

fenn , at the last meet i did in march i could only manage a 130kg bench,
after that i have added in a RAM ( same thing really) and overhead pressing and last week managed to bench 142.5kgs - not a world beating bench but it was a big jump for me.
like jim says below, do them paused , i also thow them in at the end for a set or two of all out work
hope that helps.

Great work Jim.

On the slingshot front it's also worth noting that Jim is using the Reactive which is the least powerful so the weights he is pressing with a pause will not be far off what he can press raw. Love the slingshot!

Cool feedback. If I continue to be stale benching I'll look into it.

Good info on the bench aide. As I get older I start to think about health, the slingshot and briefs are starting to sound like good investments for longevity in the future.

Thanks Al - and good point. When I ordered it, that was my main criteria because I didn't want too much assistance and then become too reliant on it. Just a little boost. Thanks again for the tip to pause it!

Indeed, Steve has always said about how the slingshot will help save the shoulders when lifting heavy week in and week out.

SQUATS

I had a bit of a dilemma this morning. I wanted to squat, but absolutely didn't want to do any kind of reppage over a triple, and it soon became apparent that my quads did not want to co-operate on anything heavy. I guess it's all part & parcel of adjusting to mornings. I did manage to snag a heavy single at 355. Depth was there but not spectacular and I leaned a bit as I entered the hole. My quads were just not feeling right today. Thus I called it a day after the back squats.

The 355 single is the heaviest squat I have done in months since all hell broke loose in my body soon after the Vegas Meet last November.

So, I was feeling pretty achy and sore after the session, that is until I downed some Ark 3 capsules. They arrived from England (LtL's new sponsors at LifestyleFocus.net). I swear under a stack of Bibles that the soreness and achyness disappeared within 15 minutes of taking it. I felt so damn good I almost went back down for another hour of squats. That stuff is the BOMB!!! I also got a container of Ark 1 which also seems to be an awesome product.
