Thanks Fen! Ya, I was also surprised. It's kinda a drag to give up spuds and dairy. Mrs Squatter, being Italian, cooks with tomato's alot so losing the tomato's will also be tough.

Haha, I was actually thinking of you when I was doing those!

EYE UPDATE

As you may or may not have read in my write-up from Sunday's session, the vision in my right eye deteriorated significantly Sunday evening just after dinner. It is now to the point where I can only see light.

During my emergency appointment today at the Eye Center, the surgeon's determined that they must operate on the eye. The surgery is scheduled now for this Thursday. The right eye is hemorrhaging. I have a 50/50 chance of clear vision or complete blindness. However, the surgeon told me that he is pretty sure we caught this early enough and is confident I will have vision, at least for the time being.

With that said, the cruel and insidious part of Birdshot is that the surgery will most definitely cause my Birdshot to worsen, just by nature of surgery. If it doesn't worsen after the surgery, it will at some point in the coming months. The Birdshot is causing the Hemorrhaging, which is forcing the Doc's to operate to clear the blood and fluids, which in turn will cause the Birdshot to worsen. Additionally, it will cause the Cataracts to grow exponentially. which will in turn force the Doc's to operate again, which again will cause the Birdshot to worsen. This is how the disease causes blindness. My course of the disease is also progressing more rapidly than most other patients with the disease. He said they expected this event to happen, but not for at least 1 year from now.

After the surgery, I will be off of work for at least 2 weeks. I have also been told not to lift anything, let alone weights. I will not be able to drive, of course. I am not even sure if I will be allowed near a computer or TV.

So, Tuesday I have a Back Bitch session, followed by a massage. On Wednesday, I will train for the last time after my Chiro adjustment. I will have to postpone the remaining Back Bitch rehab until I am cleared to lift.

It's funny how on Sunday, after my lifting, I felt so good and on top of the world really. Four hours later my right eye hemorrhaged. Now I feel like crap with constant headaches and confusion.

On a personal level, I really thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all you do on MAB to support and encourage this old man to keep on truckin' no matter what. I will never forget how LtL literally revived my lifting when I first joined M&S in 2010. Steve did it again when he convinced me to compete. All of you did it again when I was heartbroken about my deadlifting. You are all literally some of the most incredible bunch of people around. I wish I could fly around the world and meet you all in person to thank you.
