Nice session there Jim. The best competition is with ourselves. Set goals, get PBs, repeat.

Impressive stuff Jim. I guess someone should have told you that it is suppose to be harder to deadlift from a 2in deficit! That was some great work.

When is that meet going to be? No reason you cant go 1200+ total.

Making adjustments to week 4, and sending it your way.

Even at the Vegas Meet, I never thought about anybody juicing. I just wanted to focus on beating my first meet totals. Whether or not anybody is juicing or not had no effect on that.
Keeping that focus is all that matters.

A lot of good volume Jim. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Al!! Ya, worrying about everyone else would likely have a negative impact on my own goals.

Thanks JB!! I thought I had a few mionor form issues/breakdowns, but overall I didn't find them to be overly hard. I did find I have to get lower and they involved more lower body for the first part of the pull. Hammies are especially toast today.

Not sure when exactly as he just said this summer. I think the planning is still in the early stages. I keep meaning to ask the crew when the next meet is as well. I think they have one every May, but I have to ask Brian. I agree - 1200 is realistic(a 500 dead, a 425 squat, and a 275 paused bench).

Got the week 4 training and looks good to go! Thank you.

Thanks Steve!! My mental game is strong nowadays. Getting that 405 squat in Vegas despite a strained quad and having to do it on carpet and having the previous low back issue sjust before really taught me how to get it done no matter what.

Ya, I hear ya and agree. It's just that bench has been a real bugger for me in my first 2 meets. It' been great at home in the JimGym and with the Crew, but not so much at the meets. In Vegas, it wasn't a confidence issue either. I felt really strong and just great going in and seemed to struggle right off the bat with the 253. Other than the ceiling lights bugging me somewhat, I don't know what happened. When I reflect upon my training prep, I realize I neglected tricep work and lockout work. Perhaps that is the reason.

This is why I am so greatful for your mentorship and programming a routine for me. I firmly believe it was the missing link in my training. I am not that great at programming my own routines.

Your right JB - 315 or bust. Fuck it - it will be done.

Holy Crap! That is some big deadlifts! Isn't your best DL like 460? Holy Hell, you can probably do 500 right now. I was mulling over what weights I might hit today with the deficits, so I came here to see what you did. Umm...I will be shocked if I'm pulling that close to my 1rpm on those. That is incredible.

I agree with JB, you can hit 275 bench right now too. By Summer you'll be pausing with 335 the way you work. I never count my chickens too early either, but those numbers are in the bag.

I think it's the different benches at meets that screw us up. They never feel like your bench that you use every time at home. It's a lot of little things that ad up when you're benching on an unfamiliar bench under pressure.

As for that other stuff, good attitude. Just ignore it. Just keep beating yourself and you'll be golden.

Awesome stuff, Jim!

Thanks Mike! My gym PR on deads is 470. My meet PR is 463. On week 4, we will be pulling from the floor for the first time on this program. I am going to go for 500 then. As you all know, that is my dream and has been for years. It's been elusibe until know, but everything is in place now and I am confident. That pull is going to be an epic milestone in not only my lifting but my life.

My bench form has progressed by leaps and bounds in 2012, and it all started by a post from yourself. I think with all this brutal tricep and lockout work we are doing, that 3PPS+ bench is becoming a realistic goal for 2013! I know I have 275 TnG now for sure. It will be interesting at the end of this cycle what my max will be.

I agree, it's always a bunch of things that seem to become a problem. Definitely the bench could have something to do with it. However, we all have to overcome those things in an environment away from home. Even in Vegas, we had to squat on carpet of all things. It was BS and alot of guys got injured. This is why I took my 405 and was super happy to get it and leave relatively unscathed, except for a strained quad.
