Thanks Ravi!! 275 bench is certainly a good possibility - depends on how much squats zap me. 465 on deads seems more realistic right now, but you never know!

Thanks J!! At my first meet July 7th of this year, I hit a total of 1088. My 2nd lift total on Nov 8th in Vegas will be 1125, and I should have no problem hitting them - they will all be small meet PR's, except bench will be a 20 lb improvement. It's no conincidence that this comes on the heels of a massive improvement in bench form.

If I hit my projected 3rd lifts, I will hit a total of 1165-1170. My goal for Vegas is to simply beat my Vernon totals and I am 100% confident that will be accomplished with my 2nd lifts. 3rd lifts will all be gravy, but certainly achievable. I didn't want to set 3rd lift goals that were way out there and unlikely I would get them. My 3rd lifts will all be ball busters still, that should be doable on a good day.

JIMGYM SQUAT & BENCH SESSION

I decided that it would be a good idea to lift just once this week in the JimGym, instead of the usual Tuesday & Thursday, and combine squats and deads, working up to triples for my opener and a heavy-ish single. Bench felt so darn good I couldn't help myself to go for a 2nd paused single. Lower back was putting up a fuss on squats as it was not fully recovered from Sunday's deads. Really happy about the proceedings tonight!!

The most important thing I discovered tonight is that my stance is more crucial than I ever thought. When I got my stance right, I could make depth. When I didn't, I didn't get to depth. On the 355 triple, I purposefully did a narrow stance and did not hit depth. On the other sets, I got stance right and hit depth. Gotta get it right at the meet and I'll be OK. (At the meet I will have to unrack - no monolift)

Really pleased with how my bench went after some heavy-ish squats. Things are looking very good for the meet in 2 weeks!

very strong working back to back ... to do Squat and Bench with full intensity requires not only strength but also guts. You did it quite well Jim. I'm very much sure that you will hit a new PR in every lift on Nov. 8th. stay healthy and keep lifting ...

Thanks Ravi!! It was sort of like a mini-meet!! It was interesting that I did that well, because bench did not go well after squats at my first meet. Bench will definitely be a PR, as my first lift in vegas will be more than my best lift at my first meet. On all other lifts, my 2nd lift will be a small PR.

Thanks Steve!! I am now thinking I have a good shot at 280 for the meet, as my ramp up will not be triples to 255. It looks like I may have some decisions to make afte rmy first lifts!!

Our flight departs Calgary on Tuesday Nov 6th at 9:00AM, It is a 2,5 hour flight non stop via WestJet. They have cool planes with TV's in the headrests!! Tuesday night we go to Cirque du Soleil Mystere at our hotel (treasure island). Wednesday AM is the weigh in and then I will meet Collin (my handler) for dinner after resting up most of the day. Then I lift Thursday at 9:00 AM

This really is going to be one of the biggest days in my life Steve. I am getting really emotional about it. It's like the Big Leagues to me, and representing Canada is an honour.

Thanks Alan!! Oh indeed, all the stress of it!! Haha - yes, I hope I have that decision to make!! With that said, I have to remember that lifting at a meet is not the same as at home. Training with the crew tho has helped me adjust to an environment that is almost like a meet, every weekend.
