Back from California. I unfortunately have bad news. I have been diagnosed with Vasculitis. It is inflammation of the blood vessels/walls and arteries, caused by my immune system attacking the blood vessels, just like it did to cause my Celiac Disease when I was a toddler and my eye inflammation (Birdshot). Inflamed arteries are serious as it can lead to stroke, heart attacks, tissue and organ damage and even death. It's a serious problem, of course, that I am having alot of trouble soaking in. I feel like I have a cancer that is spreading throughout my body. I have been referred to The Internal Medicine Specialists to determine exactly what kind of Vasculitis I have, and then they will treat it. The outcome is usually good if caught early enough. I am quite convinced some divine intervention from my Mom has once again saved my life, as I will explain.

The first night after arriving in California, and spending the day at Disneyland, I started to develop what I thought was heat rash on my lower left leg near my ankle. I didn't think much of it. The next day we spent at Disneyland again, and after-wards the "Rash" got a bit worse. The third day we spent at Universal Studios, and after that my legs swelled up really bad. The fourth day we spent some time at Laguna Beach and then the afternoon at my Uncle Derek's house. The "rash" did not worsen that day. The fifth day was our 17th anniversary and we spent the day at Disneyland, having breaky with Mickey and Minnie and Stitch, and then we spent a leisurely day at Disneyland and then dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. We had absolutely an exquisite day, as we were treated like royalty by Disney. Minnie even pinched my cheeks and gave me a kiss on the cheek, and then hugged me!! Wow However, by the end of the day I was in so much pain we almost called 911. i could barely walk and was in agony. Thankfully, Licia had some Morphine (She has it to control the pain in her shoulder which has torn tendons - she will have surgery on it this fall) I managed to make it to the airport and back home, but not without everyone looking at me like some sort of freak, including all the Canada Customs agents. All I had to wear was shorts.

So, after getting home I went first to a walk in clinic to see a Doc. He did say I have Vasculitis, but brushed it off as nothing serious, gave me some pills to get the swelling down, and said it would all clear up in a couple of weeks, and then sent me home. Well, the next morning, I woke up to find blood in my right ear. This of course concerned me enough to go to the hospital emergency room. At the hospital, I started to feel quite ill and shi!t my pants and vomited and got feverish. They confirmed I have Vasculitis, but it is quite serious and were mystified as to why the walk in clinic doc brushed it off as otherwise. They could also not figure out why my ear bled, as they could find no reason for it. My ear was perfectly fine. In hindsight, I am now convinced it was my Mom divinely intervening knowing blood coming from my ear would prompt me to go to the hospital. I certainly wasn't going to do so based on what the walk in doc said. I now know of course early discovery of this issue means a good outcome is more likely.

I am so scared guys. Coming to terms at the prospect of losing my vision was one thing, but this is tough and I am worried about it big time. The very immune system that is supposed to protect me has the potential to end my life, and I have to admit I can't handle that right now. The only hope I have is that I know my Mom is watching over me and will get me thru this. I am also pretty sure this has been caught early enough, thanks to mom, and I will be in good hands once again with more Specialists, and that they will not allow it to spread to major arteries or organs..

As far as lifting goes, I have to wait until the swelling subsides and all the redness, and then ease into it and play it by ear until I see the specialist at the internal medicine clinic, which should happen soon. I am still planning to go to the World's in Vegas. I need to be there and compete. Mom would want it that way anyway.

Here are some pics from Disneyland:

Does your intense lifting and the amount of recovery required from it affect your condition in a detrimental manner? What, I mean is, may it be hampering your system's recuperative ability?

I don't know yet Babs. I asked the Docs if lifting affected this condition and they did not know. They told me to ask the specialist. Your question tho is specifically a good one tho. I would think the answer would be yes. I will for sure ask them. Thanks Babs!

This has never happened to me before Steve, so I am sure I caught it early. I have done some major walking before and not had a problem. There is a chance it will just go away. Literally Steve, my Mom and my family keeps me going, along with all of you guys. Thanks.

I have been diagnosed with Vasculitis. It is inflammation of the blood vessels/walls and arteries, caused by my immune system attacking the blood vessels.

Because people can end up with blood poisoning after tattoos and such (and problems 3 years later, apparently), I wondered if there was any gluten contaminant in the inks used but from what I gather there is no gluten used in the inks, lots of other stuff that people can have reactions to but no gluten; it could still be that with your immune system as it is that it may be reacting...I hope not though, because I know you'll be devastated if you find out that it is the tattoo behind the cause of this particular complication. It is yet another idea to put forward for them to check out though.

Not the Tattoo causing any probs Babs. The Docs said it was my immune system causing the chaos, just like it went after my eyes. The Tattoo healed up really nicely tho!!

Scratch One More Thing Off The Bucket List!!

The Alberta Mustangs Auto Club has been waiting a very long time for the opportunity to have our cars showcased with a vintage early 1940's P51 Mustang Plane. This plane, along with others including an F15 Hornet Fighter jet, were recently flown into Calgary for a show at the airport. We worked long and hard to arrange the opportunity to have pics of the planes with our cars. Once in a lifetime event I wanted to share with you. I cannot imagine anything cooler than having a Mustang car photographed with a Mustang Plane, a Navy Fighter, a Vintage WW2 Bomber, and a modern Fighter Jet!!

For those of you that do not know, my car is a 1990 7-Up Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible. Ford made 4,000 of these cars, but only 150 Canadian units. Of these 150, only about 35 or so were 5 speed cars, and mine is the only one known to have the graphic equalizer option and short throw shifter. I bought the car from the owner of a Ford Dealer back in 1990, who ordered the car for his wife. However, she did not like the color, believe it or not, and he sold it off the lot to me!! I was so very fortunate to be hand picked by him. IHe knew me because I spent alot of time there looking at Mustangs. The Canadian cars have several mechanical differences from the US ones, such as exhaust, daytime running lights, speedo is KM's, etc. The car is very rare and is now only 2 model years away from being classified as an antique. It is also in pristine condition with 51,000 KM's (31,000 Miles). You could eat off the undercarriage as it has never been driven in rain or snow. It even has the original tires. It is 100% original immaculate survivor car. Back in 1995, I sold the car to my brother, so that I would have money for a down payment on a house, just before I got married to Mrs Squatter. My brother kept it all these years in a garage only driving it to car shows and events. It always placed first in its class. My brother even bought spare parts for it over the years - all parts that are know to wear out such as molding, weather stripping, and even a complete brand new exhaust system.

The car was recently appraised at $3,000 more than I paid for it back in 1990, and qualified for collector car insurance. I now own the car again. My brother sold the car back to me recently for exactly what I sold it to him for 17 years ago. My brother has done many things for me over the years, but this one tops them all and I couldn't love him more for it. The car means so much to me, not only that I was hand picked to nuy the car I loved right from the get go, but because I worked 2 jobs for 4 years to pay for it. I worked night audit at a hotel and as a waiter form 5-10 PM at a very busy restaurant. I love the car today just as much as I did back then.

This Is the Mustang P51 plane!!
