Hey Ken - awesome to hear from you!! I hope all is well.

I am very proud of that PR, since I had to fight hard for it.

SQUAT/BENCH/DEADLIFT

There is no better cure for Ironphobia than lifting heavy 2X per week.

I'm getting stronger.

Squat
255 X5
275 X5
305 X5
335 X5
355 X1
375 X1
395 X1
395 X1
Depth was about an inch shy on the first 395 single - not good enough - so did it again and I thought I nailed it. Gotta smarten up tho because at the meet I won't get a second crack at it.

Bench
150 X5
170 X5
190 X5
215 X5
230 X1 Paused
240 X1 Paused
252.5 X1 Paused
262.5 Fail Paused
No worries here. After the 240 single, my shoulders felt like a nuclear bomb went off in them, so I was lucky to get the 252.5. Can't blame a guy for tryin'.

Deadlift
185 X2
245 X1
315 X1
355 X1
385 X1
405 X1
417.5 X1
430 x1 Raw PR
I think I just may have a shot at 450 for the meet for a PR attempt 3rd lift. This was one of the most exciting lifts I have ever done. I never thought I would be able to deadlift raw. Words cannot express how I feel about my deadlifting right now.

Thanks Big Al!! After doing the Starr 5X5, I thought it might just work if I go to a 4X5 and do as many singles as I feel like, namely 2-4. Doing this 3X per week was too much tho, so I went to 2X. I seem to lift well on a minimum of 3 days rest.

I think I am going to do that hybrid 531 and 5X5 routine ken Banks posted up awhile ago, after the meet.

Thanks Steve. I am preparing the best I can by just lifting heavy on the core lifts and resting. I remembered in a thread discussion awhile ago regarding lifting heavy more than once per week. You said it was OK as long as volume is in check, etc. Well, I am proving you right!!

Form compliments mean alot to me - thanks Steve!!

SQUAT/POWER CLEANS/DIPS

The plan today was to just do a 5X5 for squats, and then do some heavy singles on the weekend. About halfway thru the squats sets, I started to feel nauseated and ill. I did manage to finish the session, but was not able to eat all day. Dinner had to be forced down.

I was quite happy with the squats. I would of course like to get them a little deeper. I think I just have to find a way to get some more speed and be a bit more aggressive. With that said, the hammies this morning did not seem to want to do much. The singles this weekend will be destroyed.

Since I am only lifting 2X per week up until the meet, I think I will do my weekday session after work. No sense in getting up early just once per week. Speaking of sleep, have not had much of it the last 2 nights. Severe T-Storms either awoke us or kept us up both nights. Tornado warnings were even in effect.

One final note - repping High Bar Squats is a B!tch. The bar is not painful, but it is still uncomfortable past 2 reps, at 3 PPS+.

Squats
260 X5
280 X5
310 X5
330 X5
345 X5

Power Cleans
135 X2
145 X2
155 X1
165 X1
175 X1
185 X1

Dips
BW X8
+25 X8
+25 X8
+25 X8
