I couldn't resist an extra rep. I never thought I'd ever say that about my Benching.

Power Cleans really are a toughie after squats and bench. No matter tho, as they are still fun. After the 165 single, I knew I was done.

I am so excited about my benching now. It has always been my toughest lift, up until now. Awhile back, LtL told me that I would have 275 easy if I improved my set up. I have been trying to figure out what I could do, given my equipment, to make it happen. Last night, another member, MikeM, put it all together for me and gave me an idea. I am so grateful to them as it was the answer to my benching woes.

Firstly, I removed the knee pad part of my lat tower attachment on my power rack. Doing so has now enabled me to push the bench farther into the rack. before, it was always right up against the knee pad. Now I can position my head so that it is sort of dangling off the end with my neck right at the end of the bench. At this point, my shoulders are now directly under the bar, and once I grasp the bar, my arms are now hanging straight down with forearms perpendicular to the floor. I then planted my feet on the floor and back, but not uncomfortably back. I then pulled myself up into an arch and down the bench until the bar was right over my eyes. This forced my body into an arch, as I kept my feet planted. Unracking was no problemo as I seemed to be in the perfect spot.

I still have to practice it and make some minor adjustments. I would strongly suggest to anyone, if they are not doing this now and want to increase their bench, to try this setup. It is just fricken awesome.

I have never been happier about my lifting than I am now. I have always wanted a bigger bench, and now It is going to be a reality.

BILL STARR POWER ROUTINE WEEK 3 DAY 3 MEDIUM DAY

Not sure why this day is called medium day when it kicks my ass into not only next week, but the Southern Hemisphere. With that said, everything has gone exactly to plan so far. I am right where I wanna be. Two form points to work on is too get just a bit deeper on squats, so not to leave any room for judgement calls at the meet, and to stay tight whilst unracking on bench. For the latter, I am going to move the support pins 1 notch lower. I may have to press it a bit before my first rep, but so be it. For the former, just have to make more of a conscious effort to get it done. I know I am capable of getting a bit deeper, even tho I am sure I am at legal depth now. I have done it before, I will do it again. I used to do ATG squats exclusively last year. I don't want ATG now tho, just a tad deeper like I said.

For next week, I will be switching to a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday training schedule. After medium day, it is simply too tough to go to work all day, and then take my daughter to gymnastics all evening. If I train on Saturday, at least I can go relax for awhile after I train.

Hard to tell from the front but I'd still like to see you bury those squats a bit deeper. How about some side view footage? Looking strong all-round though.
