MAX EFFORT BENCH PRESS

IT'S OFFICIAL: I TRAIN WITH A MUTANT

Plate RC warm-ups
Pec stretches
Bar x lots
50kg's x 8
80kg's x 3
100kg's x 2
Add 2 board
120kg's x 1
140kg's x 1 (this and everything past this point is a PB)
150kg's x 1
Add 3 board
155kg's x 1 (should have gone higher)
160kg's x 1
165kg's x 0 Step too far. Got it off the board but only just. Couldn't lock out

John and I stayed equal up to the 150kg's. After that he went straight to 160, then 165, then 170 then 175!!!!! Seriously I'm having him checked for Adamantium.

Incline Dumbell Bench Press
26kg's x 20
26kg's x 16

Chest Supported Row
1.5pps x 15 per hand for 2 sets
1pps x 25 both hands together

Awesome session tonight. Still learning the higher boards but I'm getting there. Finding it a little hard to touch in the right place. The 160 was harder than it should have been which, combined with the extra 155 set, probably cost me the 165. No where near as annoyed as I was after last week's bench session though because I'm definitely making progress. All of the 2 board work in particular felt great. Going to be testing my max soon and I'm hoping for big things. John is literally beating the living daylights out of my bench press at the moment. It is no coincidence that he has not missed a dynamic or max effort bench in the last few weeks. Now if we could just get him squatting as well In all seriousness I am working to get him competing later this year or early next with me. He is freakishly strong and could do very well. The guy working the gym tonight who ran our boards told him he should compete as well. It all helps.

Assistance was brief but brutally hard. We got all of the above done in one hour and we were both finished by the end. Now have two days off before block pulls on Monday. Going for some big numbers. Have a great weekend peoples!

Well, you know what they say - training with stronger lifters can only make you stronger

Incredibly awesome benching again Al Reading this just makes me more inspired and itchy to get back to lifting next week.

Thanks Jim. John is really pushing me on squats and DL's as I try to catch him. This can only be a good thing.

Does he have 3 inch arms perhaps?

Great workout LTL. Do you guys bounce the bar off the boards or do a gentle touch and go?

Unfortunately Steve this is DK John who has the arms of a Gorilla:

No bouncing. We're doing it with a gentle touch. Unfortunately as it was just the two of us, we didn't have any footage but here's the one from where I benched to the two last time. Gentle T&G:

nice work bro. those are some strong presses. is there no one around to hold the boards? I usually just grab anyone in the gym, but that's just me...

Get a large belt LTL. Keep it in your bag and belt the boards to your chest. Works for me.

Try bouncing from time to time. Or wait until next year when I come to the UK and we can bounce together.

@JP on that day there was no one else there but tonight we had plenty of people.

@Steve I'm still building up the confidence on the boards but will get to bouncing soon. I think next time if I'm missing someone to run them, I'll knee wrap them to my chest. Looking forward to training with you next year
