Nice session big man.

Looking very strong buddy... 120kg speed and deficit pulls are pretty beastly mate. Have you thought of highering the deficit so a couple of plates, would that make it even harder to break the bar off the floor ???

You know I have never even thought about the fact that i should be trying to pull the bar fast... go figure, I have always just tried to stand up not really thinking of the speed. Thats something i definitely need to work on. You line about the deficits needing more speed to get the bar moving hit it home, so cheers buddy... learn something everyday on here huh...

Cant see the vid buddy, but will have a look later

Carl.

Yeah my plan is to move up in weight a bit then drop it back and up the platform height to two plates. That will indeed make it much more difficult to get the bar off the floor.

Louie Simmons (the Godfather of Westside) says that there are two types of lifter: power and speed. Westside trains to improve both. The faster the bar moves, the less likely it is to stop when you hit a sticking point. The idea is that if you train your body to lift fast with good form at low weight, then the bar speed will transfer and help your max effort lifts. Gotta get your form down first though.

Feeling pretty sore today. Not broken sore though, more tired sore if that makes sense. Looking forward to a rest day. Sun is shining in Reading which makes me happier and helps me to deal with the idiocy that surrounds me in my office - good times.

Great session Al. Great video as well. I've been really wanting to switch over my deads to a sumo style. I've toyed with it a few times and the weight just seems easier for me to handle. Your vids really help me. I've been eyeing up your form and set up. Awesome job as usual!

Thanks BigTime. My set-up is feeling grooved at the moment, hopefully this continues. Next heavy pulls will be a week Sunday and conventional but most speed work will be done sumo.

When it comes to your sumo remember I have freakishly short arms and legs, adjust your stance accordingly and find the balance between comfort and. If I go wide enough it's not comfortable but I'm strong. If I go too wide, I'm uncomfortable and weak. You'll work it out I'm sure.

Almost lunch time

I also have really short arms and short legs. I'm built like a fire plug with a spare tire around it

have you read this Tim and measured could be a good guide as to whether sumo would be any good http://muscleandbrawn.com/forums/art...structure.html

I did both this morning but conventional felt fairly strong today too

Thanks for that article Carl. I think I may be inclined now to lean more toward a sumo style.

My glutes and ham's are stiff as hell today. Those deficit pulls definitely made me stretch
