Honestly I'm not sure. For both of my meets I prepped with paused and got stornger that way. As I am a long way off my next meet (5months or so) I'm trying to get as strong as I can TnG and will then take it back to paused a few months out. If you forced me to give you an answer though, it would be somewhere from 7.5-10kg's. That's rested though as I always take a week off before the meet.

It's certainly not an easy question to answer, when I was competing I ran across the same dilemmas.

The obvious solution seems to be to pause every rep, all the time. BUT I found the stress on the shoulder was altogether too much to get any decent volume in. Also high rep sets are generally not conducive to pausing and I used to do a LOT of back off work in the 5 rep range (the majority of my pressing was multiple singles).

I think you have the right idea, TnG for now and pause before a Meet for at least a month or maybe two. I eventually settled on something like that as well.

Awesome work ltl, strong lifting. I like the idea of the triceps hell, sounds like it good be fun . Whilst there's all this talk about competition pausing - I have a quick question. Whenever you pause a bench, do you bring the bar down to your chest and keep tension on all of your muscles or do you allow the bar to sink in and then when you're ready to press just go all out? I'd like to know which is the right way to go about it haha!
