Helps activate my triceps more on the bench press. And alows for a slightly wider grip. When I do it I grip the mess out of the bar and start with my hand all the way around the bar. Then get my spotter to pull my thumbs around. And I've noticed it allows me to hold the weight lower which is turn makes for a even shorter press
