yeah that could have been horrible. glad you're alright. what lift were you doing? it may have been implied but i'm curious of the details to prevent the same accident myself.

I was doing bench press. I *know* I'm supposed to press in a straight line, but I have a bad habit of pressing in an arch towards the rack. The result is I hit the pins on the way up, and the bar came crashing down on my face.

I have been feeling dizzy and headaches for the past week, so not much training. Today I went in and did some GPP.

Stretching
Jump squats, bar x 4 singles, 65 x 4 singles, 75 x 4 singles
Reverse hypers, 4 sets of 8 with heavy resistance bands and light weight
Abs

Thanks. I'm trying to deconstruct my bench press and see if I can improve things.

Bench press:
135 x 3 x 8 sets

JM press:
50 + red bands x 12

Not even all of the guys at Westside press in a straight line. The Metal Militia benchers actually advocate pressing back a bit. Keep it natural.

I totally agree with you and Lt. Except in my case, natural shouldn't involve getting a black eye from a 300 pds bar!


Deficit DLs (raw sumo style, hook grip):
I intentionnally rounded the upper back on these, and made sure to hold the last rep for >10 sec to practice my grip. Deficit mats were about 2''. Definitely a hard exercise, mostly used as assistance work. But since I'm deloading for the next little while, I figured why not throw it in.

BB shrugs:
