Looking fine, jp. Keep your Monster on a leash. A few weeks of active recovery will do you more good than three months on the disabled list. Take it easy. It will come back to you soon enough. I love your determination though.

Thanks bro. I totally agree. My #1 goal of active recovery is to not end up the disabled list. If I did, my wife would be so angry she'd just finish me off. You've been a true inspiration, I hope I can live up to it and kick the s*it out of that cancer.

Default Thurs August 25th 2011

Its been a week since surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. I had my bandages taken off today, and everything looks fine. So I'm back at the gym doing light work, trying not to loose the groove of things. Today was a back/lats/delts kinda day. Those are always fun.

Concentric good mornings:
bar + blue bands x 8 x 4 sets

Front presses:
bar x 12 x 4 sets

DB lateral raises:
15 x 20 x 3 sets each side

DB rows:
30 x 15 x 3 sets each side

Lat pull down:
very light weight x 12 x 3 sets

DB pendulum swings (rear delts):
15 x 25 x 3 sets

High pulley standing crunches:
very light weight x 12 x 3 sets

Now folks, here is what NOT to do unless your name is Matt Kroczaleski:

Back in 2004 when I was diagnosed with testicular cancer I told everyone right away that it was no big deal and it was just a bump in the road. Fortunately I was right and I didn't even really allow it to slow my training progress. Four days after I had my right testicle removed because of the large tumor in it I was back in the gym squatting. I was bleeding heavily through my incision but I didn't care. When I went back to see my oncologist and he saw the bandages were soaked with dried blood he thought that the wound must have become infected but after removing the bandages and cleaning the wound he was surprised to see everything looked fine.

My wife would have had my head on a plate if I did that

Recovery continues. The stitching from my surgery is almost fully healed. This recovery has been a challenge, but not nearly as bad as I expected. Let's hope this keeps up. On the plus side, I'm not used to working at high reps (15-20), so this is the perfect opportunity.

DB press:
30 x 20
50 x 20
50 x 20
50 x 20

DB Tate crossovers:
15 x 12
30 x 8
30 x 8
30 x 8

Triceps pushdown:
2 sets of medium bands x 12 x 3 sets

Side abs bends:
medium band x 12 x 3 sets each side

Forearm curls:
50 x 3 sets until fail

Glad to hear you're able to get into the gym and move some iron. I may have missed it, but are they suggesting chemotherapy? Did that as a kid, and the best way to keep food down was eating heavily spiced, hot food for me. Don't know if it works for anyone else, but eating can get tough with it.
