I hadn't realised that it had been almost a week since I'd been on here and I even forgot to log some of my cardio and stuff, so I had hubby remind me earlier to fill in my sheet. I am getting there though, but tomorrow and Friday are busy; we're off to watch a late movie at 8:45pm, tomorrow...then on Friday, I have an appointment; so it looks like saturday for updating the log.

Then I'll try to make sure I don't lapse without even realising; just so many little things to get done and loads of walking about, kind of eat in to the time.

I also have some stuff to put up, out of a magazine I got a couple of days back...which I'll start new threads for.

Hubby update

Monday, he saw the surgeon, and was hoping to come out of the aircast; we even took the shoe and a sock However, it's not meant to be; he has to stay in it until, at least, December and then it will be reviewed fully again in January when he sees the surgeon again.

He can walk without the cast, indoors, for a short amount of time and for short distances but if the foot/leg swells, then he needs to put the cast on; any outdoor longer walks have to be done with the cast on...basically, he will be weaning off the cast and hopefully strengthening up the joint/metal section area. So, a long way to go yet.

It should be okay for him to get on the exercise bike, we hope, since he forgot to ask. On the upside, he thinks that his weight on Sunday was only 1 lb up since the time he weighed in before the op, and that has to be good.

Way to hang in there Babs & Mr Babs.

Unbelievable that he has to stay in the cast so long. Mrs Squatters' cast time was only ablut 6-8 weeks despite having her whole foot reconstructed

Sounds like hubby's diet is in check, so thats good!!

Drum roll...please....

I went for an induction at the local fitness zone today, just so that if I want to make use of it at any future stage I can do so, without having to wait for the induction and all the initial paperwork etc. So, I tried out some of the machines that I have never been anywhere near before, in prep for using them as and when.

I even managed to tweak my back not too much though, just the left hip area, no biggie...may have been one of the machines, who knows.

They only have one squat rack which also doubles as the place that they allow deadlifts, so one bar, one person if someone is there, nobody else gets a look in.

During induction, mini-trial session, nothing major:
  • Rower 500m (couple of mins, I think)
  • Treadmill (walking, I just wanted to know how all the buttons worked )
  • Side stepper (like a skiing movement) at the highest setting; the trainer said I was making it look easy
  • Elliptical (back and forth) few mins
  • Chest press, seated: 20 x ?reps
  • Seated row: 15 x ?reps
  • Lat pulldown: 20 x ?reps (darn bar was so high up, I could barely reach the thing)
  • Leg curl: 15 x ?reps
  • Leg press: ?weightload ?reps (totally forgot to look at the weightload)
  • Seated abs: ?weight x 3 reps (can't say i like the machine, so may never use it again)
  • Back ext: 5 easy peasy, need a weight plate in future

Cardio
1 hour walk, prior to the above

Then, chips, burger, sauce and mayo, cola...walk and home.
