Thanks guys, honestly the first 3-4 squat singles were the worst, then I realized I wasn't tight enough, and squats were good. Then the deadlifts were just on the mark. They actually felt as easy as they looked. I no longer have to fear going over 300 lbs for deadlifting. Next, the squat rep work felt terrible, mostly because I knew it was only 225. And the deadlift rep work was ok.

The deadlift work throughout the school year has clearly paid off in full, as we planned.
