I have acquired 531 for Powerlifting! I still owe Jim Wendler the $20 though...

Are you making any changes to your approach or sticking with straight 5/3/1?

I'm doing a deload week, during which I will be planning to change to the new program. I'm still unsure about either getting leaner or just continuing to slowly gain weight and strength. The slow gain would be the obvious choice except for 2 reasons:
1. I've never seen my abs before and would like to get rid of some fat.
2. I'm sort of worried about moving up to heavier weight classes where I would have to lift more to even be on a competitive level with the other lifters who are naturally accustomed to such weight.

I'll post some pictures later so we can all see what I'm working with.

June 27th, 2011 - Session#: 136
Week 4 Workout 1
Weight: 186.4 lbs
Time: N/A
Military Press
Bx5, 80x5, 85x5, 95x5
Incline Bench Press
3x135x5
Weighted Dips
This time: 20
10,10
Conditioning
Javorek Complex & Sledgehammer Swings
Notes:
Deload week...boring time before I start 531 for Powerlifting!
Also I came up with a new method of choosing conditioning options. I wrote down different options(Sleds + Box Jumps, Lunges with Sandbag Carry, 2x3 minutes running, Boxing, Cosgrove Complex, Javorek Complex, Javorek Dumbbell Complex, Sledgehammer Swings, HIIT, Battle Ropes + Box Jumps, Farmer's Walks + Box Jumps, Tire Flips + Box Jumps ) on cards and choose 2 from a hat. Now its much more random.

You could always do something like a 2 month cut to knock off say 12-16 pounds of fat, then get back on a more strength and muscle building friendly diet.

I think you're on the right track. You are gaining strength without needing to over-bulk. Maybe somewhere down the line when strength gains cease a bit, and you are married, it might be a better time to eat your way up to 240 ish.
