Somehow I get this odd feeling Russell Wilson will end up on Minnesota.

Might not be a bad idea, except for the issue of "why did they draft Ponder?" Seriously though, Wisconsin runs a pro style offense and the Wilson kid looks comfortable in it. I saw part of that Nebraska game. He'd be a good fit almost anywhere in the NFL.

When is the deload over?

The Vikings use to be one of my favorite teams unless they met up w/ the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

Fran Tankenton is still one of my fav players. Loved to watch him scramble.

Storm1507 rolls with the Vikings old school style. Atta boy. The thing about Tarkenton is he doesn't give much of a hoot anymore. He was quite vocal about Brett Favre playing here and breaking records and such, but other than that, he couldn't give much of a flip. In fact, last year when he was voted as one of the 50 all time greatest Vikings, he wasn't going to show up for the ceremony. It took a phone call from Bud Grant to get him to come. For the record though, I loved to watch him too.

Oh, one more deload workout (deadlift probably on Sunday), then back to progression (OHP likely on Tuesday). I might try to introduce some "heavy" singles during my next cycle. I haven't quite thought it all out yet. I think squat and deadlift are ready for singles work. Not sure about my presses.

Old School....LOL

I was just telling my wife that I believe I remember more about sports from the 70's than I do recently. Hmmm, there may be a reason.

I have deads today too. I'm thinking I will do heavy singles on the 3rd week of the 5/3/1 instead of AMRAP. We'll see in a couple more weeks.

He has amazing accuracy for a college QB. And poise. Anywho...that may be the kiss of death for the team that gets him. I hope not.

The 70's were the golden age of sports for me. Well, for pro football anyway. Hockey and baseball hit me in the 90's.

I've been chewing on singles lifting quite a bit. I think what I might do is introduce them on deads and squats for now and hold of on bench for another cycle or two. Who knows, I may never work on them on OHP. We'll see. Anyway, in light of the proposed changes, I'll probably shuffle the 531 into a 351.

Week 1 = Triples on the requisite weights + a couple of singles
Week 2 = 5 reps on the requisite weights and nothing else
Week 3 = 531 on the requisite weights + a couple of singles
Week 4 = standard deload

I'm still chewing on stuff though.

Looks reasonable.

That is the Powerlifting version of 5/3/1....correct? I somehow think I will mix it up a little. I may wait a month or two to change anything.

I think so too. Might as well try it. Nothing is really set in stone. After a couple of cycles I'll ditch it if I don't like it.

Yes, correct. Wendler prescribes it across the board for all lifts though. I don't know if my presses are up for it yet. I'll probably stick with the conventional 531 format for BP and OHP for now. Might be a good idea for you to run things conventionally for a while longer. This is your first run of 531, right?
