I agree with Tony. In prep' for my last two meets I missed big deadlifts in the gym that I then went on to beat at the meet. More exactly I missed 205kg's at my knees about 5 weeks out then, at the meet, I opened with that weight and smoked it and went on to hit 215kg's.

You have to push to failure sometimes otherwise you'll never know where the limit is.

Congrats on the deadlift PR Val. Usually what I find in the deadlift is that one weight can feel relatively easy, but 10 pounds more can feel like 1000 pounds more. Don't be discouraged with missing 405. You might have been able to hit 400.

Then I tried farted around with one arm DB Bench Presses to see how they might work on Bench Day (slight tip of the hat to my "friends" at T-Nation). I did a set of 10 with 25 pounds. I could feel it in my ass, which I guess is the point. It made me tighten up my whole body all the way to my shoes. I haven't quite been able to master that feel on regular bench. I'll run 3 sets of 8-12 for a couple of cycles on Bench Day.

For conditioning, I spent about an hour with the Ghetto Prowler (aka. lawn mower) when I got home.

Thank you, gentlemen. My body is going to thank me. The madcow bit is very good for a time and purpose. I found I can't beat myself up for more than five or six weeks at a time before I have to excuse myself from the gym for a couple of weeks. The linear progression was great, and got me back into the neighborhood of where I was a year ago. Time though to train like I mean it...and I do mean it. PR's are going to fall. I'm in this for the long haul. Gonna buy me a belt for my birthday and get it broken in so that by my first meet, I'll be ready.
