33 Minutes of Stretching

Comments: Found out that today was my last day at my work assignment, I had thought I had another month there. So that was a bit unexpected. Luckily I did receive a new assignment but it did bum me out a bit. Then I found the entry form for the next Battle at the Barn and it granted me a brief reprieve from my pity party. Didn't walk today. Box squats were good, hips a bit tender as were knees. Yoke felt good until the last set. I was pissed off to only get 22'6" with 910lbs when I've gone farther in a competition on a really lousy day. However, I need to focus on the positives. For starters, when I did that at a contest, it was after a deload week, and I wasn't pre-fatigued by much (just picks and I bombed the first two events). I need to keep records of just using my yoke and base my numbers off of that. I find my yoke is very unforgiving. For instance, 770lbs is the most I've done where I haven't dropped it due to the flexing. It was 740lbs until today. The point is, I have to keep that in mind and train this like I do with my farmer's walk implements. My implements are usually going to be tougher than the ones I use in a contest so it shouldn't get me that pissed off. But I wasn't thinking about this at the time and I was considering packing it in for the day. Picking up 910lbs on my yoke hurt. I begrudgingly got farmer's walk stuff setup and did my sets. Same with dimels and then did stretching.

I love a farmer's walk for cadio but have thinking about working in a Husafell type thing using a 100 lb plate for some variety.

Good workout. So with your work assignment done, do you have to move? What do you do for a living?

I was at a contest today so I just now got a chance to reply.

Might I suggest a sandbag, it won't get banged up like a plate when it's dropped and you could gradually add weight to it.

Thanks. No, I don't have to move. I'm part of the state's clerical pool so I'm temporary and do clerical stuff at different departments. My previous assignment was only supposed to be a few months but they liked me so much they got me an extension so I was there for almost a year.

Did you compete or just watch?

And the Husafell rocked. I tried it today, but you're right about adding weight.

Walking 30 minutes

Comments: Rough. Terrible weekend for me. I think the only real bright spot for me was eventually getting down to Maryland to see the strongman show on Saturday. What should have been only an hour and a half drive ended up being three hours plus when my GPS died eight miles from the venue and I didn't have a map or directions. I also forgot to bring down the broken circus dumbbell. Took forever to find a restroom too. So I was throughly stressed and exhausted from all the driving that day so I didn't do anything. The next day was worse. I slept in past noon and proceeded to have a pity party, watching over seven hours of anime on my computer. Pathetic I know. My upperback on the left side was tight and out of sorts from heavy yoke. Just very very stressed out. I finally got myself to go for walk around 10:00 to at least do something and that at least helped me relax a little bit. Didn't last long when I got back and started to make my breakfast for the next few days and the damn glass blender falls over into the sink, shatters and cuts my finger. Kind of the final straw as I'm flipping out over stress from so many things; work, school, money, injury, strongman. I was in a bad place. After letting it out, put some icy hot on my back and went to bed. Tomorrow's another day. Maybe it will be better.

Walking 31 minutes

Comments: Feeling better but decided to start fresh tomorrow. My new assignment is about a 13 minute walk from where I have to park so that is on top of the walking I already do.
