Strength athletics

I'm starting this new thread for those of us who train/compete in strongman, highland games, or powerlifting. I competed in powerlifting for nearly ten years in the 148# class. A few years ago I began competing in strongman. Recently I also began throwing for the Highland Games. I've done one contest and I had a blast.
My training now consists of strongman training 5 days a week with one day of throwing highland games events.
I have strongman events tomorrow morning and highland on sunday. I'll start this new training log this weekend.
Feel free to post any strongman, highland, or powerlifting post here.

Strongman event training

240x1
260x1
285x1 PR
310x miss... Almost had it at 48". I was too far away from the yoke, if I had been a little closer that would been a PR, but wouldve shouldve couldve dont cut it in strongman! Ill kill it next time!

And ended the day with...
Yoke 320# 4x100'

Looking foward to highland tomorrow.. Going to throw some hammer, 56# for distance, and 28# stone for distance! FUN STUFF!

Went out and threw some highland events today. Couldn't get anybody crazy enough to go out in the pouring rain to throw, so I took my boys (4 & 3) with me. You gotta start 'em out young.
Started with LW for distance. For those of you who don't know, it's a 28# ring weight. Threw about 10-15 throws, working on technique, which I needed alot of work on today. Normally my best event, but not having thrown for about 3 weeks, my footwork was a little slow. Even tried a couple throws with the double spin. That ain't easy.
Next threw the light hammer (16#) for 10 throws. Getting alittle better with this. I am able to accelerate the hammer more. Had a couple pretty good ones.
Finally threw the 22# stone Braemar style. Threw 5 throws, decent distance. First time really working this event.
All things considered pretty good day. It actually loosened my back up alittle bit. And like always it was fun. Fine scottish weather.
