Huge weights DW. Your deadlifting is stellar. Loved your interview with Steve for M&S as well

LtL: Thanks, bro.

07.20.10

Two-Hand Standing Dumbbell Extension: 120x4, 110x6, 100x7

- 120 was a bit too heavy, so I decided to do a couple of lighter sets afterward.

One-Hand Dumbbell Row: 125x25,15,10

Alternating Hammer Curl: 50x7,7,7 (each hand)

Turkish Get-Up (Dumbbell): 80 (a few failed attempts)

- The final exercise was disappointing because I was successful with the 80lb dumbbell a couple of weeks prior to this, but was a bit fatigued by the time I got to the get-up on this day.

07.21.10

Back Squat: 350x3,3,3

Good Morning: 265x6,6,6

Cybex Squat Press: 540 (six 45lb plates per side) x 10,10,10

Just poppin in to say hey, DW.. I had a few people at my office in absolute awe on the first post alone, when you did the deadlift @ 502 x2.. One guy said, "There's no way that skinny little F*** was going to DL 502." He just dropped his jaw to the floor, said holy ****, and hoped he never met you in a dark alley.. haha keep kicking ass mang!

ricka182: Looks can be deceiving.

07.23.10

Bench Press: 195x3,3,3

- The final rep of the 2nd and 3rd sets felt difficult because my triceps were still sore from the dumbbell extensions, a few days prior to this session. I might do 205x3,3,3 instead of 215x3,3,3, next week, as I'm still transitioning to this closer grip for my primary style on the bench.

Pull-Up: BW+80x3,3,3

(overhand, underhand, neutral)

Barbell Curl: 110x6,5,3

Concept2 Rower: 500 meters - 1:57

- This was a little disappointing because my best 500 meter time was 1:40, 1:45 , or between the two, if I recall correctly. However, the resistance might have been incorrectly set. Plus, I haven't used the Concept2 since the end of May, I think.

07.25.10

Deadlift: 510x2 (2nd rep was UGLY with a hitch/ramp)

- This was disappointing because I wanted both reps to be clean, but I think the 495x3 drained my CNS, one week ago. I'm going to stay away from the gym until I pull again, 6-8 days from this session - next Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. I need to let my muscles and nervous system recover. No squat, bench, etc. until after I attempt 545x1 in approximately one week.

"Through adversity, there is redemption. With passion, fighting. I am unbroken!" (Killswitch Engage - Unbroken)

Barbell Shrug: 445x6,6,6

- I forgot my straps, so I used a mixed grip for all three sets, the same over-under configuration that I use for my deadlift. I don't like to do that (mixed grip instead of double overhand with straps), but it's not the end of the world if it's once in a while.

Looking big and strong DW. Great progress.

Good luck hitting 545 on deads. Get it done!

Just noticed you did those, too. I had something I thought you might want to check out: ChAoS & PAIN: *The Ubiquitous Question- How I Got My Traps

Good article on Power Shrugs; since I started doing them that way ^, my Traps have gotten a bit bigger and my Deadlift is much more stable near the top of my pull.

BTB: Thanks, Steve. I'm like a caged animal, ready to pounce. The 545 will be mine!

IM: That was a really good article. Thanks for the link.

08.01.10

Deadlift: 545x0,0

- 495, the final set before 545, felt fine, and I was feeling confident going into the 1RM attempt. The bar had good speed, like most of my deads, but stopped a few inches above my knee, almost at lock-out. I just couldn't fully extend my hips and bring my torso to be fully erect. Ramping and hitching began to occur, so I dropped it after a short struggle. As they say, so close, yet so far. Maybe the ammonia got me too crazy.... or it was just a few pounds too heavy.

The plan for the meet is to do either 540 or 541 (not 545) for my 2nd attempt for a 5 or 6lb PR, then maybe go for more after that. The ammonia will be used for the 3rd attempt, not the 2nd.

Barbell Shrug: 465x5,5,5

- I decided to venture into the 3-5 rep range with the shrug, using more weight and less reps, after reading that Chaos & Pain article which Iron Manlet gave me. I need to stop being a pussy with the shrug and put some weight on the bar. Thanks for that, bro.

Bodyweight: 165
