Even if your heels are up, you should be driving down on them at all times, problem is most people forget that on their mental check lists. I still stick by if you don't Squat or Deadlift on tippy toes, why the hell would you bench press like that?

Plus chances are if your on your toes, your butt is more likely to come off the bench. I have to research more but I think that foot placement of heels off the ground more beneficial to shirted benching, since the shirt takes the majority of the weight on the descent. I mean to each their own, but I feel a more steady plant will always beat a semi- one.
Oh, well I always drive my heels down so they're secure...I suppose I could experiment.

- third rep of the third set held for 13 seconds

Standing Press: 145x5,5,4

- strict press without leg drive

Glute-Ham Raise: BW+33x8,7,6

Glute-Ham Sit-Up: BW+22x8,7,6

- Last night was when I did my final session in Coliseum, my powerlifting/strongman gym in NYC. I'm going on a flight from JFK to Seattle tomorrow (Tuesday), so that I can see my girlfriend who has cancer. I will probably stay there for a while, especially if I can find a job. She said that there's a Gold's Gym across the street, but I'm not very optimistic about the quality of the staff or the equipment. We'll see how it goes.

Yes best wishes with you and your gf. Btw, when you hold the bar at the end of the video, is that just primarily a grip exercise or does it have other benefits as well?

i wonder this too....

i'm assuming it for grip and because in a meet you have to hold the top of the DL??? (and it looks badass)

I like that deadlift hold. Last time I did that it felt like my glutes were splintering and shredded.

The deadlift hold at the end of the 3rd rep of the 3rd set is a little bonus exercise for the grip, as recommended in the Gaynor deadlift program. I also have extra DOMS today in my neck, traps, and upper back. I'm not sure if that's from the hold or something else that I did during that session.
