This was, without a doubt, the most difficult cut I ever made. Definitely didn't drink enough water during the superhydration phase, before depleting myself, going into the cut. I gotta drink significantly more water for RUM, my next meet, on February 24th. It was my first time doing a water load. I'll do better next time with that.

Also, I forgot to take into account that despite both my analog and digital scale giving me the same number, it's 2-4lbs lighter than every meet scale I ever stepped on, which means that I probably came down from the 177-179 range, not 175.

After many hours of total carb/water/salt depletion, a massive amount of sweating, natural diuretics, some spitting, and chugging a bottle of magnesium citrate, I made weight (164.9) at 7 PM instead of that morning or afternoon because it was taking forever to lose the last few pounds. I ate and drank what I could manage until around midnight, got some sleep, then ate/drank more when i got out of bed, and during the meet.



^ That was a few hours after weighing-in, Saturday evening.



Squat: 430, 465 (5lb meet PR, tied gym PR), PASS

^ Opener felt okay; not too easy or too difficult. The 465 was harder than I thought, and it felt like I slightly tweaked the back of my neck, I guess from pushing it hard into the bar, so I passed on my 3rd attempt.





Bench: 250, 270 (5lb meet PR), 280 (NO LIFT, would've tied gym PR)

^ Smoked the opener and the second attempt, then blasted the 3rd off my chest toward lockout, but only my left arm was extending to the finish. I realized after I failed it that they were using an eight-foot bar which can cause the bar to drift to one side if you're not accustomed to it, according to Jason Manenkoff, an elite raw bencher in my weight class.





Dead: 525, 575 (5lb meet PR), 585 (NO LIFT, would've tied gym PR)

^ The 575 felt easier than the 525 opener, but then the 585 stalled just short of being finished, and I couldn't grind out the last couple of inches. Very close to being a good lift, like the final bench attempt.





Total: 1310 (15lb PR)
Division: Open 165 Pro Raw Modern
Placing: 1st out of 7 raw 165lb lifters


^ I got my first pro total in the RPS, along with my first 1300 (or more) total in any federation.

- My 575 deadlift also broke the world record (570) in this fed for my division.



^ The date is off by 8 days, but I guess that's close enough.
